female + 29 + archer + captain of the guard friendships Life in the military can teach you two distinct rules - you don't need to befriend someone who might die, and you need to be a blood-brother to every last man you see on the battlefield. Rowan's camaraderie is such that she only accepts a few forms of fighting - decisive victory, peaceful withdraw, or sacrificing her all so that they may live. Outside of the field of war, Rowan might be a tough nut to approach - often studying up on the latest news from other countries and keeping the guard in check, her downtime is few and far between. Once found, however, she can be seen as a polite nut, to say the least. Oozing confidence, she walks with the pride of a CEO and talks to her allies with the voice of a ruffian. Sharing snacks and playing games of strategy and chance are two quick ways to bond, unless you're willing to be target practice in the most fun of ways. Rowan maintains an open air with anyone, willing to talk sweet to the lowliest of peasants and to spit back at the most dignified noble. Approach her with the best interests, and you'll find yourself a solid acquaintance. hateships You fucked up. Rowan hates war. She hates random violence, she hates pointless arguments, she hates those who would stand for elitism and dark monarchies and domination through violence. If you fall under any sort of category like this and she knows of it, you're on her shit list. Rowan hates coldly, quietly, and civily, however - she takes care to calm her own storms, drawing it back into her bow and keeping it aimed right back at you. Rowan can wait a long time to return to you what you've given back, given the chance - she recognizes that getting even isn't the way to live life, but boy does it taste sweet. loveships How the hell do you win her heart? I mean, she's always off doing this or that, playing diplomat for a bunch of angry nobles of all nationalities or playing the hardass captain and training her own ass off - what time could she have for love? Someone as devoted to a cause as her, that's who. While Rowan has never once given such fairy tale romance a thought, the ideal person to catch her attention would be one that could give their 100% to helping her see her dreams come to fruition. Peace across the land, peace in the hearts of people - peace in her own heart. In exchange, Rowan can offer her mental and emotional fortitude as well as open arms and sturdy hands in companionship. To win over Rowan is to erect a longstanding fortress in the name of content days and secure nights. other Rowan will get to know anyone of any nationality and background - anyone. She really needs like-minded people, however, to help her keep all of these knuckleheads on the site from starting up a war or fucking up and re-summoning Grima or anything of the sort. As such, people with determination and/or political pull and/or comrades of great charisma and force would be welcome. NETTE OF GS

I EXPECT THAT Matthias and @rowan just. are not. going to get along. if they ever interact, that is. and she knows how terrible he is, that is. otherwise i figure they'd just be stiff and formal to each other on the matter. suna and rowan could possibly get along?? suna's going to hang out in the castle for a bit, so she could easily run into rowan there, and be all like OH HI HELLO who are you can you tell me about yourself?? and naturally, Inessa... inessa would look up to rowan because wow!! archer senpai... (or be kinda *snff* you arent even that good... if rowan's just average at archery). outisde of that she'd play her usual game of keeping rowan out of her business and appeasing her/keeping her from asking too many questions. i'm not sure the circumstances with the captain of the guard switch, but maybe something with that could tie in too! who knows. lemme know because i do not know.

I'd love some interaction between @rowan and Alto. The fact she ousted someone who was pretty corrupt and despictable whom he hated already means she has brownie points in his book. Her dislike of pointless fighting only wins her more.

If Rowan -knows- about all of Matthias' dirty tricks with the bandits and stuff, she'd be on him like white on rice in order to kick him out of Plegia single-handedly. She does, however, see some benefit to the Knights existing and spreading goodwill and doing good at kicking bandit ass and keeping peace, so there can be a very complex relationship where she wants the KoC to succeed, but wants to kick the goofy goober in the crotch for starting stuff. I feel like we could do a lot with this, both between them and an on-the-whole plot kind of thing. Suna sounds so cute! Could be a good break for Rowan from her srsness at the castle; might be a good actual friend for her to have. I'll ponder more on what they could do later to chillax. Archer-Senpai is the way to go. I like to think Rowan is above-average and working on getting better; Inessa and Rowan could possibly even have a practice session together to actually show off. I'm not sure how I'm handling the IC ramifications of Rowan being captain since, from what I see, the previous one didn't do anything ICly so not sure how to roll with it. Rowan would want to be familiar with Inessa (and by extent, Maeve ) since she is sort of in charge of keeping them alive and well. Not sure if Rowan would be all stiff and Captain-like or if she would lean more into getting personal with them - seems like a thing to develop in thread. --- I'd love some interaction between @rowan and Alto. The fact she ousted someone who was pretty corrupt and despictable whom he hated already means she has brownie points in his book. Her dislike of pointless fighting only wins her more. Peace 4 tha win. Rowan and Alto Saxaphone would get along; Rowan would respect the White Knight and how he goes about things, and so she'd probably favor towards him and picking him for entourage duty and shit. He'd get the good jobs if she has say in it, so to speak. Not sure what they could do to kickstart this friendship, though... I'll ponder on it.

Ibarra & Rowan So Ibarra is the MIA Plegian guard. He has a notorious reputation as "Ibarra the Heartless," a cold, merciless soldier feared by his enemies and allies alike. It's through this reputation that someone from within the upper ranks got him inside the palace. I'm also thinking that it's the same person who had put Ibarra in a position in the Grimleal, so this character-I've-not-found-yet is someone relatively high in the power ladder. Ibarra's not a chatty person. He must have always stayed at a distance from the others. His presence isn't strong and at times, it would be a surprise to suddenly catch him popping from a corner before vanishing again. But despite his notoriety, I don't think he'd done actual trouble. A lot of people might have expressed discomfort and fear around him. They might have mentioned of the "evil eye" Ibarra gives them from time to time. But all the stories revolving around him aren't really true. They're true in that they DID happen but Ibarra never intended harm or malice once. So people actually just misunderstand him. At his core, he's a big derp. He disappeared by the time Ascher was exiled. I think Rowan had been captain since the last sovereign? We could do a flashback thread. kamille + Rowan Kamille is an Ylissean who abandoned his homeland and went to Plegia to further his military career. He was most likely not in Rowan's radar until he became one of Admiral Tremere's closest aide, with Tremere being the Queen's uncle and all. His Ylissean background is not a secret, nor was it a widely known fact until Kamille became admiral. Like Rowan, Kamille acts very professional but he has no patience for incompetence. I think he looks at Rowan as an equal, so he would not be showing restraint criticizing her if it comes to that point that he thinks she's doing poorly. Right now, he thinks she's someone who knows what she's doing since she was able to plow her way to the top, booting the last captain in the process. They're alike in that they climbed their way to the highest position despite their disadvantageous backgrounds. Not sure if Katya told you since this was something we clarified in Skype. When Maeve left Plegia with a few soldiers, Kamille intercepted her, demanding that he comes along. He put two and two together, figured when he heard she was going somewhere from his informants that she was heading to Ylisse. With the state of Plegia's navy, Kamille is impatient for new information. He wants to know where exactly Plegia intends to go from now on and what it will do. So now he's acting like her bodyguard and Kamille is very unhappy about it. He's not staying with her through the entire trip. He think he's wasting his time being in Ylisse and wants to go back to do actual work. Kamille is an infuriating fellow. I don't think he and Rowan are going to hate each other right from the bat. Kamille's opinion of Maeve is quite poor and he doesn't treat her like how Rowan does. He still treats her like a queen; Kamille knows if he's being too stupid about it, he could get executed. So how he and Rowan would get along depends on the journey lol. It's not like Kamille is a completely heartless fellow. He cares for his allies and if we're talking about a bond with someone royal, Kamille was quite devoted to Tremere. When Tremere was assassinated before his eyes, Kamille appeared to have lost all his will and broke down beside his corpse. The next day, he woke up and resumed his routine. During his speech as the new admiral, he made no mention of Tremere and the assassination. While everyone was mourning for the death of a prince, Kamille spoke calculatingly of glory and progress.

ibarra A flashback thread with the reigning derp would be a fun exercise in how Rowan interacts with her guards, especially with someone with such an off-putting reputation. In fact, Rowan would go out of her way to find out exactly how he got such a nickname as the Heartless, if only because she would like her guards to not fear a fellow guard. Alternatively, we could do a more present-day thread where they end up sighting one another somehow and its a very awkward moment of recognition before shenanigans. kamille if Kamille is determined to find out what Maeve is doing / how in regards to Plegia and its assets, you can bet Rowan will be there at his heel. She takes a high interest in the political/social/economic status of Plegia and its neighbors in the hope of squashing out the war and leading things into peace, and so when other people poke their noses into such business she gets antsy and wants to ensure that they are there for the "right" purposes. Given Kamille's efficiency and dedication as Admiral, Rowan would have no qualms with him as an equal and he might be someone she would ask for second opinions and advice if she felt the situation called for him. Therefore, if she did seek him out to question his intentions on following Maeve / any of the other royal family, she would be upfront about it and expect an honest answer in return. I think it would be interesting to see how that would progress, given both their dedication to their duty and their differing views on Plegia's current royalty.

Ibarra & Rowan - A flashback thread would be more convenient since he's not supposed to show his face around often and there may be more impact when it's revealed that Ibarra's become Grimleal's general. I also really want to interact with the guards because Ibarra liked his peers though he never really talked to them.
Do you have a particular scenario in mind? We can have shenanigans in the flashback thread too you should see his thread with Inessa; it's pretty much a thread of shenanigans and Ibarra made her cry. Ibarra could make Rowan's investigation harder without even trying should she try a more upfront approach to it. Maybe on a training exercise, perhaps? Ibarra also probably flakes from meetings from time to time lol.
Kamille & Rowan - Yeah. Had Rowan accompanied Maeve since she left Plegia? Because before she came along, Kat had Maeve go alone secretly. I think she mentioned about Maeve informing the captain before leaving to leave the guards in-charge while she's gone. But yeah that was because the RPer of the captain at that time wasn't around.
Would be interesting if they run into each other in Ylisse. It's the most convenient time for them to meet each other face-to-face given how far apart their posts usually are (Rowan in the capital with the royal family and Kamille by the borders with the army.) So if we could fix up the timeline, we can have them thread. It's likely going to be without Maeve's inclusion so they can speak without reservation.

ibarra I would love to see this thread with Inessa to get an idea of how shenaniganzy we can make this. A flashback thread is perfectly fine, and works well with Rowan as I currently don't have a super set past timeline of events for her. The training scenario might work best for casual shenanigans with Rowan trying to question him when she can and Ibarra doing his thing of not actually answering them. If he flakes from an important meeting, though, Rowan would be more than willing to track him down in her free time to find out what was up with this dude and why he was doing the things he was doing. kamille I WILL EVENTUALLY GET WITH Maeve AND FIND OUT WHAT ROWAN WOULD KNOW when i stop being so lazy which might be never who knows with me. Even if Rowan doesn't know / doesn't go with Maeve, she can have gone to Ylisse / close to it for the plots reasons like security or meeting up with an official, because I'd really like to have this no-holds conversation that could range from professional talk/criticism all the way to kamille letting loose how he feels about Maeve+royal family and Rowan's pleasant reaction. Ibarra/Rowan - Hmmm. Do you mind if you start it? Not that I'll be able to reply immediately maybe I'll leave it to you how you want the scenario to be. Kamille/Rowan - Yeah this one has to happen. There's actually the option of Rowan popping in with Kamille's thread with Cassius. Probably not right now since they're in the middle of a very congeal chat. But it would be interesting for a trio thread. And if you really want: Ibarra/Inessa thread and Kamille/Cassius.

Wooh! We both knew this was coming! Mostly because really, I was warning you about this for quite awhile as I was getting my lazy butt up.
So! We should totally arrange a meeting between Cerise and Rowan at some point, especially since Cerise is still in wander mode at the moment as she dithers between trying to find a way back to Valm, continuing her original mission and still making enough of a living at the end of the day to keep fed. I figure she'd make her way to Plegia find a boat, and as we know that won't be happening she would probably try to petition to have a group formed and a ship built for the very task of reforming the relationship with Valm and to consult the Voice of Naga about the mounting trouble on the continent.
Of course, after her plan gets shot down they would have the chance to meet, especially since they seem to be the type that would mesh well with one another. And well, consistent goals in the whole 'Why can't we be friends' department.

ibarra I can make the thread at some point. I have a setting in mind; just gotta find the time and place to do it. I'll also wait for more info on the Kamille/Rowan/Others+ thread. cerise Rowan can meet the poor trapped Cerise sometime before or after her failed petition to get a boat; it wouldn't be hard to run into Rowan as she does her rounds around the castle and as she just does her job. Rowan would be interested in the girl who wants a boat if she heard about it; and speaking to Cerise to find out their common ground would be nice. IT WOULD BE GREAT FOR ROWAN TO MAKE VALM FRIENDS OKAY it helps with her goals of peace and shizz

But I can always do the thing. I love a woman with a spine. *wink*
And I mean... Rowan's the captain of the guard, if she starts listening to his advice, he can essentially lead some bad calls. If he wants to. And if he works at it. So there's his motivation. Plus the more friends he makes in high places, the more likely he is to not get killed when he goes to higher places.
So uh yeah. Knowing Vai he'd probably sneak in somewhere he's not supposed to and then act like he belongs. Sneaky foreigner is sneaky.
