[attr="class","infobig"]THE OFFICIAL STORY
[attr="class","infosmall"]the tales that everyone hears
[attr="class","info"]We had our heroes, and then they were gone. Aye, Lord Chrom slew Grima with the mighty Falchion, but the Fell Dragon plunged into the sea, and he took the Shepherds with him. None survived--none except Grima, defeated but not truly dead.
What followed, we called peace. Ylissean nobles squabbling among themselves for power and influence as the infant Exalt grew of age. A new royal family reigned in Plegia, seeking to throw off the yoke of the Grimleal church. Ferox dissolved into a mass of self-proclaimed khans, warring until mighty East and West khans rose anew.
We called it peace, but it wasn't--and now, even that charade is gone. One day, the Fire Emblem disappeared and Grima returned once more. The young Exalt and her companions went to do battle against the Fell Dragon, but they only walked into their deaths. Chaos ensued. With the Fire Emblem sundered into five peaces, Grima laying waste to the navies and port cities of Plegia, the peaceful king of Plegia assassinated, the Falchion lost for good, these are dark days, indeed.
Ylisse has no Exalt, and the current steward enjoys making war more than making peace. Plegia has been plagued by lost kings and usurped princes, and the crown sits unsteady on their new queen's head. Regna Ferox has no single khan, yet one would hope to become caesar. Still, the Grimleal pray to their Fell Dragon, arisen anew. Without ships, Valm has been cut off, silent while the continent stews in revolution. These kings and queens upon their thrones see shadows lurking in the corner, and more likely than not these days, those shadows are real.
It was then, among those shadows, that the Knights of Cydonia were formed. A mismatched group of heroes and lost souls from all walks of life, they were led by an idealistic young lord. Their quest was to find the Fire Emblem and, more importantly, to find the peace that had been lost. They lost their leader, and with that, they scattered and dispersed.
From the ashes of the Knights of Cydonia rose the Shepherds. The Knights' quest never ended. The Fire Emblem has yet to be found; the Falchion is still lost. Named for the Exalt's companions of a generation ago, the Shepherds will set things right, because someone has to. They have neither power nor recognition, but they have their hopes and dreams of a better tomorrow.
Are you with them? Or will you fight against them?
