BIO
In life some people are born with everything; they come into the world with a silver spoon in their mouths. Others are born with nothing, living day to day not knowing whether they'll have food the next. Some are born knowing their parents; others like Alto are born without knowing their mother and father. Growing up, he never knew who his mother and father were. They left him, abandoned on the door step of a minor noble family, shortly after he was born. They were likely poor and couldn't afford to raise him, that was what was likely true. They did their research though. Abraham and Teresa were incapable of having children of their own and frequently adopted or sheltered foster children till they could find a more fitting family. In this day and age such a thing was rare. It made them special people. Most people would have likely left the baby where he lied. After all most nobles looked down upon the common folk. They were different. Despite being two wealthy nobles they took the young baby Alto in and gave him a home. He grew up in a life of luxury despite his shaky beginnings.
Alto was exposed to the knighthood at the ripe age of six. He had wandered away from his family's villa and into the nearby castle training grounds where he watched, starry eyed, as the royal Plegian knights trained. Of course his adoptive parents fretted over him and went out to look for him. When they found him the current captain of the guard had sat down with him and regaled him with tales of gallantry that instilled in the boy a deep desire to one day become a knight himself. While most would see the Plegians as a gloomy morose bunch the knights were like any other military force. They had their personalities, their quirks, but at the end of the day they were still knights. They were very much larger than life figures in the young and impressionable Alto's mind. He begged his adoptive parents to let him come to the castle to watch the knights train every day. It took awhile but his parents finally relented and allowed him this honor after speaking with the king.
Soon he became such a permanent fixture that he was slowly integrated into the knights by proxy. When he was only ten he was sworn in as a squire to one of the veteran knights. This knight, Jethro, became his teacher and the man who would pass everything on to the boy. The man was skilled with all sorts of weapons but none more so than the lance. Alto too took to it like a fish to water. He wasn't a natural born prodigy by any means. Alto trained rigorously and earned his skill with the lance and spear the hard way. Still, one might have called him an early bloomer in terms of combative skill but that could be attributed to years watching the knights. It seemed only fitting that after serving three and half years as a squire Alto was made part of the reserve knights. He wouldn't see front line deployment but if the knights were in need of reinforcements he would be there.
Alto continued training for years. He would have probably have eventually faded into obscurity as many a knight grunt did but something happened that ensured he would be remembered for times long to come. Two things in fact. The first was his meeting with the pegasus that would become his trusty mount, Zephyr. Peg knights, especially male peg knights were an uncommon sort. This was doubly true for Plegia. The beautiful animals seemingly found the area to their disliking. However on a training march the now fifteen year old Alto had one of them come screaming out of the air and land before him. The majestic winged steed was a wild pegasus with no rider. It landed and seemingly bonded with him instantly as if it sensed Alto's pure heart. That was enough of an event to make an impact but the second is what truly set him a part. Dissatisfaction with the nobility was not an uncommon thing; nor were assassination attempts. Perhaps it was fated or perhaps he was in the right place at the right time, whatever the case may be during a exhibition in front of one of the nobles and their family Jethro, Alto's member, broke away and tried to kill the noble woman. Alto reacted blisteringly fast, despite the man being his mentor, Alto plunged his lance into the man's back ending his assassination attempt before it started.
That was the day Alto found himself in strange new company. The noble woman had been quite pleased with his display of both valor and quick decision making in the face of a hard choice. Jethro had practically been a second father to the boy. To be able to put all that aside to defend one of the people important to his country? That took phenomenal resolve. The noble woman spoke on his behalf to the current ruler and Alto found himself now one of the knights he became so enthralled with in his youth, the royal knights. He was no longer a scrub in the knight reserves. He was a full fledged knight in the service to throne. He couldn't have wanted anything more. To this day he continues to faithfully serve the one who sits upon the throne, in this case, the countries crowned queen. Alto's resolve is unshakable and his heart still as pure as the white armor he dons.
OTHER
-He's such a stereotypical white knight. He's so out of place among the gloom and doom of Plegia.
