Ariel is the High Priestess of the Grimleal, the mouthpiece of the Fell Dragon Grima until He can find a suitable Avatar strong enough to contain His power. Currently the Grimleal are locked in Civil War with Plegian Royalty and their retinue of loyal combatants, an affair that Ariel sees as mostly pointless but beyond her ability to simply call off. She is gifted with a sharp mind and strong voice to keep her congregation strong while they wait for the true return of their God, but when not preaching to the masses or making war it becomes a lot easier to remember it's a teenage girl up there.
FRIENDS: Officially the Grimleal have no political allies and none outside the devout can hold council with the High Priestess. Unofficially Ariel is rather easy-going around people from any walk of life and is plenty willing to have a friendly chat with anyone who isn't currently trying to kill her - Ylissian, Plegian, Feroxi, or otherwise. There's no stopping her constant fishing for ways to further the Grimleal, but she can be incredibly engaging and respectful as she does it.
ENEMIES: Obviously if you approach the Grimleal High Priestess with arms bared, expect death or something equally as painful. Insulting her God is another easy way to get on Ariel's bad side, as is making jabs about her competence. Despite being in such a hallowed position, you really have to work to piss her off. But that makes it all the sweeter when she gets to start her tortuous machinations upon her captives.
LOVERS: While Ariel really hasn't given any thought to it, she is a young woman approaching the prime of her life and certain chemicals may override logic or reason. Obviously any romantic partner would have to be accepting of her faith and position - not wanting Grima's return is kind of a deal breaker, no matter how he (or she) makes the Priestess' heart flutter.
OTHERS: Anyone Ariel meets is a potential convert to the Grimleal ranks. She'll offer a fair pitch and not take things too personally if they refuse - Grima will need non-believers to smite, after all. Any Grimleal who want to leave the ranks better have a damned good reason, though - Ariel has no qualms feeding rumors of dangerous followers of Grima to those who would be all to happy to cut down her deserters.

Ariel Straight-up pulling this out of the bag, but Tsun and I are probably going to have a thread between Ascher and Skeyti discussing how everyone's 99.99999% convinced Ascher is Grimleal. If that's the case, why not join them. At the moment, I'm not completely sure how Ascher feels towards Grimleal, but he's kind of annoyed that he's been stripped of his birthright due to being associated with them.

Ascher That might be interesting - she can use that, even as just propaganda to undermine the Royals further (she's got one on the inside, having one on the outside gives her a rather unique perspective of affairs) We might be able to do a thread together about that if you want. | TAGS |

Since the box is a bad place to discuss things I thought I'd post here instead of continuing to poke you on the box. How would Ariel feel about meeting Slein? Seeing as he's sort of kind of Grima's progeny and all. I think it'd be pretty interesting since he's no longer on Grima's side (nor Naga's for that matter).

I'm still searching for that person who must have recruited Ibarra. Probably the same person who found Ibarra's talent from the battlefield and put him in the guard - someone who's pretty high up in the ladder. Hopefully, we get a Grimleal who can take care of the political aspects and pull some strings. I'm not yet certain how we want to play this without that guy because I feel like there should be a sort of mediator/mastermind between them. I debated offering Ibarra as a bodyguard but I think it would be better if he sticks in the shadows. He's relatively recognizable and information on enemy commanders is too important. So I can't see any direct interaction between these two unless Ariel seeks to meet him. As for future paralogues involving the Grimleal, I can set them up by your command. I've done the initiative of writing down Grimleal's private army. Considering the church was what truly controlled the country until Maeve and with the reappearance of Grima, I figure Grimleal have a lot of support and power. And as for Ibarra himself, he's not had enough experience to be called a veteran but he's what I would call a guy with a high "knowledge stat" and bad leadership skills. Zero chance of giving a prep talk. No faith for Grima either. Not everyone has a reason for fighting and Ibarra's one of them. It's not about money either. He's got the spirit of a drifter. Also, might be worth mentioning that the former admiral kamille replaced was assassinated by the Grimleal. Hm. I think we have an assassin in the Grimleal actually. Justice if I remember. Fittingly so because Plegia's navy were raiding Grimleal's ships. And now the navy is dead.

*makes strange creaking noises and attempts to put Rima or Vaigali down*
Rima would be more logical for plotting since she's half-Plegian. Vaigali is more practical since he's not stuck anywhere and he needs to be attempting to cause civil wars anyway. It's his job to be on everyone's side all at once.
Once again, I curse the fact I have no Plegian since Scorpius is being taken out after I finish his thread

Rima While administrative work isn't exactly something Ariel has a great need for (the government of the grimleal is exceedingly loose, to the point of barely existing) having someone who is on good relations with one of the khans would make Rima exceptionally valuable. She seems to have good skill in diplomacy, and being involved in Feroxi politics gives her a worldview Ariel herself doesn't quite get. If being aligned with the Grimleal is too big of a dealbreaker for her, Ariel could consider having her as an outside consultant.

..... Hun Rima is not in the least bit interested in the Grimleal. Not really. No. She just likes making friends with people and the whole politics of everything flies right over her head. There's a reason Balthazar has to protect her after all. So yeah. She would never join the Grimleal even though she is half-Plegian, she'd just be a hyperactive person who would be that friend who everyone would just stare at and wonder where she came from.

So I'm thinking that Ariel and Viscera could get together for some kind of meeting sometime about the Grimleal's state of affairs. It could probably also set up the current time of Viscera corrupting Naga's faith and inciting civil war in Ylisse to get them off the Grimleals' back and turned on themselves. What do you think?

Viscera As of now there's no reason for Ariel to bring Ylisse into a civil war - they're fucked up enough as is. The attention needs to be towards getting the Plegain Royal forces to negotiate something that'll keep them from trying to slaughter the Grimleal. That said, as I take it Viscera was the front-runner to the High Priestess post. Ariel sees her as someone she can confide in and a meeting about their viewpoints could be very interesting. In some ways, having someone you don't see eye-to-eye with as your Right Hand could be a good thing.
