BIO
• With Grima's death, the ranks of the Grimleal dwindled constantly, either by execution or desertion. Those that survived still worshipped the fell dragon's "spirit" in secret, ever waiting for their God to return. What little Ariel remembers of those first few years are devoted to the inevitable return of Grima's soul to Ylisse.
• In spite of the mounting evidence that Grima wasn't coming back, Ariel and her parents kept faith. Still, training your only child to be a priestess for a dead god is ill-suited as a career choice, and the young girl took up other pursuits: staffwork, swordplay to a degree, riding, all in addition to the arcane knowledge a servant of the Fell Dragon would need to know.
• And then...it happened. Some idiot mage had brought the Fell Dragon back from the beyond - Grima had returned to Ylisse to finish what he had started. It was about this time that Plegia devolved into civil war, neighbor turning upon neighbor and Ariel's parents among the earlier casualties of war. The Grimleal quickly became her family, fellow servants eager to bask in the wake of destruction their returned god was destined to bring forth.
• While they were officially men and women of the cloth, the Grimleal were nonetheless attacked and attacking back against the Plegian Military, still weakened from the campaign a quarter-century ago but more than enough to keep match with Grimleal's magic users. She is still unsure of how exactly it happened, but after two years of blooded conflict, Ariel found herself being appointed High Priestess of the Grimleal, sworn enemy of the False Royalty that was behind Plegia's ruin and Herald of the Fell Dragon Grima.
• In the months of Ariel's reign, combat that immediately threatens the grimleal stronghold has ceased, being pushed back towards a sort of middle ground that has been somewhat deadlocked of late. Any distraction to weaken the Plegian army--or unexpected boon to strengthen hers--could tip the scales of fate in her favor...
OTHER
• In spite of being High Priestess of the Grimleal, Ariel has almost no Fell Blood in her veins. After being privy to the circumstances regarding Grima's needs, she is starting to suspect her promotion may have been an attempt to be rid of her by becoming an Avatar for the Fell Dragon - a possibility likely averted by her bloodline. It's a trick she's keeping in the back of her mind should the need arise.
• If met under different circumstances, Ariel could very possibly be a rational and useful ally to both the Halidom and Theocracy. Among her advisors she could be characterized as rather laid-back when not needing to rally others. However, both Ylisse and Plegia see the Grimleal as a fanatic cult hellbent on controlling the land in the name of their God - who is she to disappoint them?
