She had at least his support on the matter, though he would continue fighting to see the new future created by a wise ruler. Maybe she should be trying to unite the nobles together since they were the ones who instigated a war to begin with. That and the other countries were probably at war with one another too, prompting her to get some insight on what goes on during a time of utter disarray. The Hero King would probably tell her that she should at least bring some peace amongst the Ylissean nobility and later, to the other continents. She would need to act on being a peacemaker for the nobles first and then moving on to a larger scale.

"Perhaps, you're right. I could try to bring peace towards the Ylissean nobility and maybe step up as a ruler for the people if I needed to. I'm sure that I would be a good leader for our homeland as well. All I ask is that you'll be my sword and shield when the time comes."

Due to the tragedies in his life, Gairovald seldom smiled, usually having a deadpan face. However, he could not help but smile after seeing a small ray of hope that all the fighting he has done will eventually come to mean something. “By the way Lady Isolde, how long do you intend on hugging me? Someone may get the wrong idea if this contin—ah too late,” Gairovald said as a maid walked in. “Lady Isolde is h-h-hugging a-a-a,” the maid stuttered at what seems to be a public display of affection, dropping her broom. Probably doesn’t help that she has never seen Gairovald in her life before. For all she knows, this could be a secret relationship in which Isolde ends up eloping with a stranger. As the maid’s imagination ran wild, he face turned redder and redder. Well this can’t possibly end well.

Possibly the most heartwarming thing was that he seemed to be happy that he would get to see the future that she was creating and that he will try his best to aid her. And for the first time, she saw him smile, something that she had yet to see during a time of turmoil. She didn't realize that she was still hugging him until he pointed it out as soon as one of her maids walked in. Well, that can't be good. Soon, the maid would start thinking that she was secretly eloping with Gairovald and dozens of other wild fantasies that the embarrassed maid might've went with. She released him from her embrace as the maid was just standing there, wondering if the two were in a love affair that she herself didn't know about. Isolde began to blush as she spoke to the maid.

"Uh, t-this is not what it looks like, ma'am. We're not really a couple or anything. I mean, i-it's not like I like him or anything."

Walking out with rope on his shoulders and a piece of cloth in hand, Gairovald rushed the maid, quickly using the gag to prevent her from making noticeable sounds. "Lady Isolde, if you could, please help me in restraining the maid," Gairovald asked as he ties up the maid. Meanwhile, a young girl resembling Isolde passed by the scene. The young girl asked, "Hey wha-" with an excited face, wanting to join in what looked like fun to her, before getting interrupted by a young man, dragging the girl away with a facial expression that said, 'I don't even want to know.'

Those delusional rumors would not be able to get out if the maid was gagged, providing an excellent source of being able to live free without any rumors that could tarnish her name. She spoke to the maid. "Sorry about that, but I can't really have you spread rumors that could end in embarrassment." The maid panicked, but her mouth was quickly subdued by a piece of cloth tied in order to not have sounds coming out and to avoid suspicion. She didn't notice her sister walking in until Simon managed to drag her away with a "I don't even want to know" face. Might have to explain to them about that later. Then again, they probably seen some weird stuff that was going on in the house lately.

[attr="class","ban01"] [attr="class","ban02"] THIS IS WAR Dragging the maid in Gairovald’s soon to be room, the two now had to think of a way to persuade the maid into not spreading any rumors. “First we should remove any misunderstandings. Afterwards, we will need some insurance to prevent her from speaking about things she shouldn’t be speaking; may I suggest a small bit of torture as a threat, Lady Isolde?” Gairovald casually asked, deadpan as ever. To him, torture was just a simple tactic to be used when appropriate—just a simple relatively common tactic. “Perhaps start dunking her head in water, repeatedly, for hours on straight. Later we could break some of her less important fingers. Some shallow cuts on less visible parts of the body. If we can stage it as an accident, we could break a limb or two.” It was difficult to tell if Gairovald was being serious or if he was just trying to scare the maid. The way he spoke was too consistent, almost everything was in the same tone. Perhaps it doubled as a fear tactic; even if he was serious about the torture, it still effectively functioned as a fear tactic as the uncertainty in whether or not Gairovald was serious or not, was truly frightening. In the case that the threats failed, simply going through with the torture would easily serve as Plan B. Immediately, the maid went in a panic, as if begging for mercy. “You understand the predicament you are in right?” Gairovald asked. Immediately, the maid nodded. “Are you going to tell anyone about what you saw or spread any rumors about what you saw?” Gairovald asked again. Immediately, the maid shook her head. “Well then, I guess your fate is in Lady Isolde’s hands; hope she’s the merciful type for your shake, because I’m not,” Gairovald said to the maid. “So Lady Isolde, your orders?”

The torture was not something that she would like since breaking the maid's limbs might be a bit too much, but that was a former mercenary. Someone that did those things to people that could make them scared for eternity which was a plus, but this was a maid they're talking about here. Fortunately, the maid began to panic once the young man made those rather realistic threats to her, possibly making it easier to beg for mercy. And she hoped that she wouldn't go to prison for kidnapping one of her maids for a small bit of torture on the subject of seeing someone hug a stranger. And actually, dunking the maid's head in water for hours might not be such a good idea since well, she could have nowhere to breathe. He was not really the merciful type either, preferring to be rather ruthless in using torture methods.

"I'm merciful, so I say we should let her go. I rather not let her suffer all this."

"First time ever being in such a nice room…" Gairovald lived in a backwater village for most of his childhood as the son of a peasant man; needless to say they were not wealthy. When he was taken in by the mercenary group, he spent most of his nights camping outside with them as they went from contract to contract. Do I really deserve this? "Ah, I almost forgot to ask; I noticed two people earlier while we were restraining the maid. Were they your brother and sister?" Gairovald asked. "They won't have any trouble with me staying here will they?"

The maid was obviously terrified of him, so much that she escaped to go back to her duties. Had she not intervened, he would've went through with it or possibly make them threats as it is. It was quite ambiguous though, never knowing if he was serious in doing those kinds of things or not. The young man did comment that it was a nice room, possibly one that he had never been to before due to his upbringing. It was clear that he was willing to protect her honor and for that, she was undeniably grateful. The maid would've told some of the servants that she worked with slanderous lies that could've been heard by someone in her family, prompting dishonor amongst the nobles. Even worse, her name would've been tarnished and the family might never talk to her again. It would be a bit hard to have proof on hand since humanity tended to be stupid and believe anything others might say.

"Oh yes, they are. I think they will be okay with it, actually. You're my protector after all."

I shall fight for my lady in hopes of seeing a bright new future. I may not be able to be your knight in shining armor, but I will do everything in my power to bring forth the future you seek. Even if I must take all of the world’s evil onto myself, even if I must stain myself in blood, even if I must give my life, I shall fight for the bright future, even if soldiers like myself have no place in it. I am yours to command milady.” If anyone knew about Gairovald’s birth rights, he would be a definite candidate for knighting. Whether it is in his blood or something he simply learned through his experience, Gairovald definitely had a faint noble-like air around him though somewhat twisted at the same time. His experience as a mercenary has him fight to win, not for honor. Willing to commit heinous acts, to throw away any honor, as long as it would better humanity. To him honor is unnecessary, he would not give his life for something like honor, but for a brighter future he would gladly do so.

He might make a good candidate for being a knight, but unfortunately he would have to be recognized as a noble as read from one of those books about medieval things.
