The entire sparring session went on as the young man went in for the grand finale. Pure instinct drove her to deflect the first attack which caused her opponent's sword to fly into the air, thus leaving him unarmed or at least the illusion of being unarmed. What she didn't see was that the young man managed to sneak in another wooden sword and put the pressure on her spear. Well, any enemy that they're facing won't be totally honest and had methods of cheating during a fight. Oh yes, like cheating would be a safe method of winning a fight with dirty tactics. Of course, Gairovald had managed to put more pressure on the wooden spear as the white-haired man continued to do more phantom strikes one by one. To her, that style was a bit unorthodox, but anything can be used to survive a long battle. After that display was done, the sparring session was over. "It is quite alright. I do believe you did well despite all that force you've put into the sword."

Oh, and if you ever wish to spar again you need only to ask milady." The more combat experience she gets, the easier my job will be and it is only logical. After returning the practice weapons a question came to Gairovald's mind, one that he almost forgot. "Ah, before I forget. Where will I be staying? I assume it would be someone on the premise for efficiency's sake, but if I may ask where exactly?" Gairovald assumed he would take residence on the manor's premise, whether it was a guest room, guard barracks, even a stable would do for him; hell, he would be willing to camp out in the gardens. The only necessity would be that he remains nearby for quicker responses should something happen. Suddenly, out of nowhere, Gairovald's stomach growled. "Ah, my apologies Lady Isolde. It seems that I neglected to eat today," Gairovald said, his face tinted a bit red out of embarrassment.

After those practice weapons were returned, she was then asked where he would be staying. "I think I would prefer if you stay in the guest room. My room is next to it, so you are more than welcome to stay here if you so wish." At least, the guest room was sanitary and immaculate unlike the stables which was the very definition of dirty. Out of nowhere, a growling sound could be heard and it came from the young man's stomach. It seems that he had not eaten during his journey to the manor. She smiled while she spoke. "It's alright. Should I get you something to eat?" She had a feeling that he was quite famished and possibly, he would have to eat in order to replenish his strength. For a moment, it actually seemed like he was being nicer to her, almost as if the young man really had a soft spot.

A guest room next to the heir's room? Well I guess it worked out for the better since I was able to obtain it. "Also Lady Isolde, I should be the one to ask if I should get you any food. A bodyguard is still basically a servant after all. Simply point me to the kitchen and I can prepare both of us a warm meal." He may not look like it, but Gairovald was an adept chef and surprisingly enjoys cooking. During his time with his mercenary group, Gairovald was often the one cooking the meals. They even joked about how Gairovald's survival is the priority because they could not go back to the time before he cooked their meals. "If you do not mind me asking, could you tell me more about yourself Lady Isolde?" While it seemed like Gairovald was simply making idle chatter, he was looking more at learning his client's habits and quirks. How they plan out their daily schedule. All so he could adjust his to fit theirs'.

His words suggested that he was a good cook and not many men took the role of cooking as far as she knew. "Oh, right. I think the kitchen is near the dining room." Since Gairovald was rather new to how the places are located around the manor, she figured that she might have to point out where certain places were just in case if he had gotten lost. Well, it was rather difficult to find certain rooms since the manor itself was large in which she sometimes had a hard time with finding some rooms. And then he asked her a question that all people ask when they want to know someone. "Well, I have an older brother and a younger sister. I had been taught by my grandfather the importance of manners and etiquette. Three years ago, I learned how to ride a Pegasus. Also, I attended a private academy for about eleven years. My hobbies include reading, cooking, and playing the piano." Perhaps, she could take another trip to the library if she desired, but now was not the time. It was the time to eat since she felt that she was quite famished herself.

Most of his culinary skills came from working with limited ingredients, making the most with what he had. Now he had access to a plethora of ingredients, the possibilities were endless. Hmmm, I should be able to try that recipe out. Taking a pot, filling it with water, and setting it to boil, Gairovald looked at the extensive variety of pasta he could choose from: farfelle, rigatoni, fusilli, and rigate just to name a few. Taking a moment to decide, waiting for the water to boil, Gairovald decided on rigate pasta. Carefully putting in the pasta and adding a bit of garlic salt for flavor, Gairovald turned his attention towards making the parmesan sauce. Melting a little bit of butter, Gairovald added a bit of flour, whisking it constantly for about a minute. Afterwards, Gairovalds added some milk into the mixture bring it to a boil while, again, whisking it. As he waited for the mixture to thicken, Gairovald took fresh tomatoes and quickly sliced them into blocks before adding them, with some parmesan cheese, into the sauce mixture, whisking it until smooth. Now came the chicken and vegetables. Quickly cutting up some carrots and broccoli, Gairovald noticed some peas and quickly steamed them. Taking a skillet, Gairovald melted some butter before adding in boneless chicken breasts and freshly cut garlic, lightly cooking it. Not finished just yet, Gairovald then added the carrots and broccoli and cooked them with the chicken, letting them become soft and tender. Noticing some dried herbs, Gairovald sprinkled them over the cooking chicken and vegetables, lightly mixing them. With both the sauce and chicken mixture ready, Gairovald pour the parmesan sauce into the chicken skillet and added the steamed peas, mixing them all together, tasting it to make sure he did not forget anything. Alright, now comes the pasta. Checking on the pasta, Gairovald checked and made sure they were cooked to a sufficient softness before draining the pasta and adding it to the creamy parmesan chicken, mixing everything together. Alright that should do it. Hope this turns out well. Finally, it came time to serve. Preparing a plate for both Isolde and himself, Gairovald delivered to Isolde some delicious creamy parmesan chicken pasta. "Here you go milady. I hope this suits you."

And at last, Gairovald had prepared some creamy parmesan chicken pasta which was quite a delicious dish around these parts. She tasted the pasta first and it tasted so very delicious. She never tasted some pasta that was this good and ate some more of it. The vegetables look quite steamed as well and she took the time to eat those. "I must say, the pasta tastes delicious. You did an excellent job in cooking it." She continued to eat after she was done praising the man's culinary skills. Perhaps, he could be a battle butler since he was probably suited for the role. After a couple of minutes of eating the pasta, she wiped her mouth with a napkin and waited for her bodyguard to finish before she made small talk. His skills could probably make some local cooks make a run for the money which was oddly a good thing. She probably didn't need any of the maids or butlers when she did have the white-haired man to do the cooking.

It is somewhat mind staggering at some of the possibilities you could make with all of these high quality ingredients." I definitely have to experiment while I am here. Hmmm, so many recipes to try. I have to be careful though. I will probably anger the other manor staff, especially the cooks, if I spend too much time in the kitchen—especially when I am supposed to be a bodyguard. Not really a good bodyguard if I get distracted so easily. So far, I have been more of a combat instructor or butler than a bodyguard. "Is there a library here or nearby?" Gairovald asked. Despite having spent most of his time in battle, he greatly enjoys reading. Aside from researching tactics from war archives or combat techniques and forms; a simple story can go a long way at keeping your mind intact, ready to handle the demanding stress that comes from living on the battlefield. Though I guess I don't have to live on the battlefield anymore do I? Still, it isn't going to be a hobby I am going to just give up.

"Why, yes. The library is located at the opposite left room from the dining room. I think you might like our collection of old stories regarding Ylisse's past." She was sure that the library had some books that he might like and she had spent her time there while she studied for the academy. The manor staff might get a little upset if he had taken their job of cooking the meals for the family, but the white-haired man was free to do as he desired. And not to mention that there was also a local library in the town as well, but she preferred the library at home for quiet study times. Still, not many homes had a huge library with a vast collection of books like hers, so it was kind of a rarity amongst homes. It was possible that some of the books that detail methods of combat might be found in the library as well.

Gairovald asked. "I have been trying to discover more information about a mysterious figure referenced only a few scarce times in history as the Hero of Shadows. For some reason it appears that whoever they were, they were stricken from history itself. I uncovered some references that lead me to believe they were a member of the Altean Knights, but even that is speculation." Taking out a small worn book, Gairovald showed Isolde a list of various book names, their references to the Hero of Shadow, and possible connections. It had been a sort of side project for Gairovald ever since he saw the first reference in an Ylissean Library. "The historical erasure of this person seemed to have made it easier for the Hero King Marth to unify both Altea and Akaeneia, and at first it seemed like the Hero King had the Hero of Shadow's name stricken for that reason but the deeper I delve into the research, the more it seems like the Hero of Shadow erased themselves out of pure blinding loyalty. Just so they could aid the Hero King in unifying the two nations."

"It sounds like a difficult search for the Hero of Shadow. Much of the history is quite vague, so I suppose the history getting lost in time is possibly the reason for its vague meanings." She couldn't quite get why the Hero of Shadow was lost in obscurity, but perhaps it was because the historians probably just assumed that Marth had gotten credit for unifying the kingdoms. If that was the case, the Hero King had probably not revealed the identity of the unknown hero, but this unknown person could be a knight for all she knew. She was told stories about Marth's major battles during the war in Altea, but never about the unknown hero himself. The white-haired man seemed to be immersed in his own research which was a plus, given that he was rather interested in Ylisse's past. She had remembered that Eric seemed to be interested in reading about Marth as well since she believed that the nobleman was well-versed in Ylisse's history.

Well anything I have at the moment is just speculation. There is no hard proof whatsoever. As Gairovald returned his research book to his cloak, a locket fell out. As Gairovald picked up the locket, a sad expression fell on his face as he stared at it. While valuable to him, the locket reminded him of his failures. The death of his childhood friend, his father, and the mercenary group that took him in. Am I really going through with this job? I failed to protect everyone important in my life; worse I killed them… No, this time is different. She’s a sheltered girl. It isn’t like she will be traveling the lands, fighting battle after battle. This is my chance to just rest, to take it easy. Dashing away his doubts, Gairovald returned the locket to his cloak. Painful memories may be attached to it, yet it was his duty to remember his losses. To forget them would be to kill them a second time. “What do you think about the Ylisse’s current state?” Gairovald asked, trying to change the subject from his mother’s locket.

However, she was asked about what she thought about the state of Ylisse. Hmm, she had been keeping up with the news about Ylisse lately and it was in a state of brief peace or something.

The news had stated that there was no exalt to rule over that place and to her, it seemed like the chaos was not something that she wanted to see in her home. Perhaps, she might have to wish for peace to return to the halidom since she had a dislike of fighting amongst the Ylissean nobles lately.

So, he was tired of all the fighting... Suddenly, she seemed to sympathize with his dislike of fighting, mostly because right now, the halidom was in a state of chaos. Yet, the young man had to keep fighting for those who lost their lives in countless wars. She could only imagine how Marth would react if the kingdom was in chaos because of the countless deaths during wartime. It was disheartening, but it couldn't be helped if the nobles kept fighting with one another. All that pointless fighting will go on if someone didn't take action soon to stop it. All that took was an effort to bring down some of the nobles that were acting hostile towards each other and there will be more wars that will ravage the land.

"It's alright... Frankly, I...am tired of the fighting myself. I just want it to stop and yet there will be more fighting. I just wish that I could at least bring peace to our homeland and stop all this endless fighting..."
