Ahh, much better. Nascha no longer felt like she needed to cling, so she loosed her grip and pulled herself off of Eden's back slightly. They were still keeping a good pace, too, so once they were pointed in the right direction Nascha was confident that they'd still make good time. As Eden said, probably a few hours. Given when the Knights had left, and the pace they'd likely be limited to as a group, she and Eden would most likely catch up with them by nightfall.
"Barring any interruptions, at least," Nascha answered and thought out loud. Immediately, she wished she hadn't. Her eyes, as sharp as they were, soon caught sight of movement on the horizon. A fool might have thought they had already caught up, but Nascha knew that unless their mobility had been severely crippled, that wouldn't be the case. That was when she noticed a foul air over the mass. Risen? If so, they were way too close to the capital to ignore. "Spoke too soon," Nascha said. "Look just south of our current heading, and tell me what you see."

Eden soon realized Nascha had already relaxed a little, loosening her grip and pulling away from her back. Well, that was fine. At this pace things would be quite dandy and they'd be ready to meet the rest of the crew by nightfall. However, when Nascha had answered regarding the fact that things would be smooth disregarding any interruptions (obviously) almost as if by some higher power's wishing they eventually found themselves wading into a most unholy stench. Eden herself couldn't clearly see exactly what they were but she could tell that they were not exactly people. They were walking too slowly for that, and of course, that foul stench was quite abnormal. When Nascha asked Eden to tell her what she saw, Eden shook her head. "Milady, you can tell better than I can, can't you? Must be a group of those disgusting and odiferous monsters...! Why are they so close to the capital? They are also in our way! We have to eliminate them quickly." Eden sighed as Cauchemar continued going. Eden looked ahead readying her lance. "I hope you have some heavy firepower, it looks like there's a lot of them!" Eden growled and cursed something under her breath.
She really didn't like this one bit but at the same time, she needed to eliminate this imminent threat. Was this bad luck, or was this a test of fate? Eden didn't want to think about that RIGHT NOW, but it was definitely in the back of her head. Oh well, she just had to simply get cracking on it.

Yes...the closer they got to the approaching not-people, the more obvious it became. They were definitely Risen. The Knights had to have taken this path, or at least something close to it though, so how had they missed them? Nascha looked back along their path, quickly determining that they had come up from the south. That would do it. If the Knights had ridden a little farther north of where they were, then they may never have noticed them. In which case, the two of them would have to deal with them, just as Eden quickly pointed out.
"Don't worry, I can handle a group like this just fine," Nascha said. She removed a hand from Eden's waist again to point towards the remains of an old stone wall, no doubt a fortress from the early days of Ylisse, or even Archanaea. "Drop me near there, then give me as much space as you can." She wouldn't deny Eden the chance to fight, but she didn't want her getting in the way either. Once Nascha got going, it would be difficult to avoid collateral damage.

Eden soon approached the mass, looks like they were really those unholy monsters after all - the Risen. Eden sighed and as she prepared her lance she turned back to face Nascha, who exclaimed that she could handle a group like this just fine. Eden tilted her head but simply just took her word for it. If Nascha could really handle it, then it was fine. Nascha told Eden to drop her near the remains of an old stone wall, looking to be from a fortress from the olden times. Eden nodded and rushed Cauchemar towards the location, letting Nascha disembark the horse. When all was said and done, Eden obeyed the command and charged forward in an attempt to redirect the mass of Risen towards her. With her superior mobility, it would be easy to get their attention. Whatever Nascha had hidden up her sleeves, it had better be good. Eden galloped away from the Risen as they turned their attentions towards her, giving Nascha a huge amount of room to do whatever she had wished, with the way that Eden was redirecting them.
"I sure hope this is going to be just fine," Eden said in a sudden display of hesitation and a lack of words. "Just what can she do to eliminate such a group this big? I couldn't handle this on my own for sure..." Eden swatted away some bile flung at her from afar with her lance, the density of the bile enough for the tip to smack it like a ball.

Nascha slid off the horse the moment it slowed down enough for her to disembark, then gave Eden a few seconds for her to clear out, trying to redirect the mass of Risen. It was working too, as their attention was soon drawn towards the knight.
"Perfect," Nascha said. She ran her hands through her hair, pulling it back to expose her pointed ears, then pulled a deep green orb from her tunic. It gave off an iridescent glow as she took it in her hands, then as she started to whisper to it, it shone brightly. Bolts of raw energy erupted from it. An aura of deep purple flames coated the orb, then began to wash over Nascha's body. Her body burned away in the mass of dark fire, then the flames themselves began to expand. Heavy footsteps shook the ground as reptilian feet slammed into the ground. Thin but long leathery wings erupted from the top of the mass of flames, followed by a whip-like tail, facing away from the wall where she was dropped off. Finally, the head of a dragon, lined in spikes, emerged from the opposite end. With a loud, earth-shaking roar, Nascha dispelled the last of the dark flames, exposing her dragon form in full.
Now easily reaching over the wall she'd 'hidden' behind, Nascha reared back, then unleashed a breath attack of pure dark energy. It washed over the nearest of the Risen, wasting away their bodies and leaving only corruption in its wake. Several arrows came Nascha's way, but they barely did more than plink against her scales as she took off, floating the short distance over the wall and towards the undead platoon before slamming back to the ground, crushing several more in her wake. A swipe of her foreleg scattered most of the rest, then another dark magic-like breath attack wasted what was left of them.

Eden grumbled as she continued to distract the Risen, and when she turned her head to see what Nascha was up to, she had just witnessed the tail end of her transformation. Where Nascha originally was, a large dark-toned dragon was in her place... Leading Eden only to believe that it seemed that her 'trick' was the fact she was actually a Manakete! Eden sighed and gave Cauchemar a bit of a prod to get him to go faster. Eden decided she didn't want to get caught by the blast of energy Nascha was now loosing over the undead forces. Staying silent the whole time, it was only a matter of time before the entire platoon of the undead had pretty much either been disintegrated or had been crushed. Eden soon had Cauchemar grind to a halt as she turned around, still mounted on the horse, to look at what had just happened. She... was a bit shaken to say the least. Eden took a deep breath and tried to relax herself. "Well, I suppose I didn't need to do anything after all. I do think it means I can just save my energy... for another time." Eden muttered to herself.
From what Eden was able to see that Nascha was clearly an Earth Dragon. She... wasn't really sure what to make of that. All she knew from the stories was that they mostly despised humans or at least held resentment towards them from historical events, such that humankind became the rulers over the land. Eden sighed and wondered what Nascha now wanted to do with assisting humans... But it was a very long time. People could change. She must have been centuries old, at least. Eden knew not to mess with her, but she felt a little inadequate in comparison outside of being a chauffeur...ess.
Sighing, Eden looked down and saw one lone Risen literally crawling along the ground trying to attack Cauchemar. Eden casually jammed her lance right down on the Risen's head, bursting it open and putting it out of its misery. She sighed and shook her head.

One survivor. One, pitiful survivor, that Nascha saw Eden put out of its misery in an almost pathetic-seeming manner. Wow, maybe she overdid it? She'd just wanted to end the fight as quickly as possible so that they could move on, but would the human knight see it as stealing glory? Or was that more of a Feroxi thing? Nascha genuinely didn't know. Evidently, she was not as knowledgeable about humans and their quirks as she had first thought. How troubling...maybe she should reign herself in a bit in future engagements.
Soon after, once she'd confirmed that they were all dead, Nascha's body seemed to melt away in deep purple mist, leaving only the human form in its place once more. She let out a heavy sigh, then approached Eden. "Was that too much?" she asked. "I've been told my transformations are a bit...difficult to witness, the first time. And...sometimes the tenth time." She'd let the possibility of 'stealing glory' come up on its own. There was also a potential repeat of the incident with Suna to be wary of, after all.

Eden said nothing and did nothing as Nascha had reverted to her human form and began to approach her. By the time Nascha had gotten close to Eden on horseback, the knight simply looked at her, with an expression neither sullen nor particularly impressed. She only responded once Nascha had asked if 'that was too much.' "It is not a matter of it being difficult to witness, nor is it a matter of it being terrifying, alas, it is simply the notion of such a powerful being fighting on my side such that my role has been devolved to that of the 'decoy.' I'm glad for you to be on my side, but I've just had the feeling that I've been nothing much more than your ride." Eden simply said, shrugging and forcing out a soft, but resigned smile.
"Alright, whenever you're ready. Hop on." Eden finally said in an uncharacteristic display of simplicity. She simply looked on ahead, and she sped off once she was sure Nascha had settled herself back on, hopefully in the direction that they were meant to go.

Ahh, so that was it. The possibility of being insignificant was something humans occasionally considered. That was understandable. It was something she'd have to overcome, too, if she was really going to be one of the Knights. After all, she was part of a group now, not just a one-dragon battering ram to be pointed in whatever direction.
She shook her head. "Some battles will be like that, I'm afraid. But if I could do everything myself, I would never have joined the Knights. As powerful as I seem, I'm not invincible." She turned away and stared up at the sky. "I waited a very long time for my chance to strike Grima down. And when I was finally confronted with him, twenty-two years ago, I could do nothing. Just his sheer size and presence was too overwhelming. That's the kind of enemy we're up against." She turned back to Eden. "That's potentially the enemy we're up against. If you're worried about being insignificant now, then this may not be the best job for you. Otherwise, we need all the help we can get. I'm not all of the Knights, and even if I was, I can't be everywhere at once, and I can't be in dragon form all the time. You'll get your chance. Trust me."
Huh. She almost sounded like a proper recruiter there. Or so she hoped, at least.

Eden shook her head. "If I was /worried/ about being insignificant, I would not have spent the effort to search for your company. I'm simply just questioning what my duties will consist of when I do become an official member of the company." Eden said, forcing a weak smile. "I came to fight for a cause. That's all." she continued after a brief moment of silence. Eden was not worried about being insignificant in the face of adversity or in the face of someone who was clearly stronger than her; she was more worried about being insignificant in terms of the role she would play in this battle. Hypocritically speaking, she was not a hundred percent confident, she was not that kind of person who would brag about her skill at things. In fact, sometimes she feels she is not good enough. But at the same time, she felt herself at the very least more capable than a glorified horse rider wearing some fancy armor. She didn't want her worth to be reduced that much. It was insulting to the point it was almost painful. So of course, Eden had to clarify that.

"Then you're still in the right place," Nascha said, giving Eden a surprisingly gentle smile. "As I said, we need all the help we can get. If you're here to fight, then that's exactly what you'll do. There's no way Dorian would reduce anyone to someone else's ride, and despite first impressions, I wouldn't either. I...guess I may have gotten carried away a bit, as well. I'm sure I don't look like I can do much, until people see me transform. But that aside, not every fight will turn out like this one. I do look forward to seeing what you're capable of."
Whew. She'd done a lot of talking all of a sudden. But hopefully, that would ease Eden's concerns at least a little bit. If anything, Nascha would rather be the one playing decoy herself. A dangerous decoy that could level entire squads, sure, but she could think of many a scenario where a big and dangerous dragon would draw people away from something more important. And as for someone's ride, had Eden not owned a horse it may well have ended up being the other way around. But either way, Nascha just had to hope she could get it across that neither she nor anyone else planned on stealing away any chances to fight for the world's future.

Eden nodded and silently waited for Nascha to say when she was ready to move on. Looking ahead, and awaiting the signal, Eden had looked down, wincing, and then shaking her head again. Eden didn't really want to vocalize the things she just did, but since Nascha had already asked about it, Eden had no choice but to be honest about it. She rarely lied. Eden couldn't remember the last time she lied, even a white lie. Incidentally, Eden wasn't sure if Nascha could think about things from purely a human perspective. After all, she was part of a race that has lived on for thousands of years, even if their numbers are incredibly scarce in the present day. Whenever Nascha had decided to urge Eden to go forth, she had called for Cauchemar to speed off in that direction, though the knight herself had chosen to still her tongue. She decided that words were not needed in this matter, that the chatter and the talk could wait until after they had reached their intended destination. The distraction had already been dealt with so they had to make quick haste. Time was a-wasting.
