sakalam, Ranieri, Seris, Azrael[attr="class","info"]News of the town burning was barely needed in the dead of night. The bonfire of the buildings could be seen for miles. Likely the fires would not only make visibility horrible in the town's little streets, it would add the element of fire to the list of environmental hazards.
Upon approaching the town, the smells of ash started to assault the nostrils of anyone passing by. The dragon had already been here. Half of the town was already put to the torch. Cries of civilians both outraged and fearful for their lives set the atmosphere into an eerie and tortured feeling. Only a few of the bold and dimwitted were trying to save their material possessions; some were even trying to take buckets of water to the buildings to try to quench the fires, and some were even going unnoticed in their efforts. The rest were spotted by barabarians, who were eager to have the free target practice.
When Seris and Sakalam got into town, they encountered a child running towards them that stopped dead in its tracks. The urchin looked to be no more than about eight, and whether male or female it was hard to tell in the chaos. It stared at the two of them in terror before crying out.
“Not more bandits!” It shrieked, before trying to get away from the two of them as quickly as it could, not knowing that it was about to run straight into a corner that a thief was hiding in. blah blah blah. wanna join me, come and play. But I might claw you in your face. wings and tails will do the trick, what do we need is? a little bit of panic!
sakalam, Ranieri, SerisSakalam has next post and directives for her side of the mission, I'm just setting up Azzie-poo here! She'll come in as a dragon in a minute, mainly concerned with making sure nobody self-immolates into the homes currently at fire.Ah, the sounds of chaos and destruction, as the blue haired girl was just moving to and fro in the mass of people. Oups, there was one trying to get into the house, and with a yank, she threw the poor lad away. She didn't condone deaths on her actions, because it was just as amusing watching people rebuild after she burnt down their things. It was always so fascinating to the Manakete how people could change and even more so, could rebuild after disasters. Her village people had been like that, she herself has had to do that, and well... watching people do it was just as fun. Plus, on the bonus side, it made her dragon form renowned and hunted. More entertainment for the Manakete at the least. She liked that. Pulling another stupid bum from the flames, as she heard screams and noises of... oh, were those brigands? The blue haired woman snatched one of the fleeter footed bold ones, and gave him a look. ''Hey... are those bandits?'' she asked, serrated teeth full blooming. The man, shaken just nodded, as the girl let go of him. ''GOODIE~ oh wait, hey you no dying over there shesh! You're so busily trying to die stop that!'' she yelled out, pulling out another dummy from the flames. At least some wanted to douse the flames but naaaah. She would have to observe the brigands, but right now she had to keep these dummies from pitching themselves into the roaring fire before her. Luckily she had picked an East Khan village, made it easier for most eh? Maybe some of the warriors would show up and help out, but the dragon lady was in her human form now, and kept an eye of what she could on the situation... well at least until that urge would take her again right? With an excited laugh, she pulled another unfortunate soul away from the burning of all of their material possessions. (C) ELLIE @ GANGNAM STYLE

Chaos: the primal nature of man, the state all things in the universe fall into by default. Sprouts did not come back to life when crushed, pots were not repaired when dropped to the ground, and clothes were not mended whole when ripped apart. Sakalam witnessed the process of destruction chew at the anomalies established by man to protect his longevity. Chaos ran rampant, indifferent to the calm and zealous, to the horrified and horrible. Sakalam made no offer to extend a connection with the brat, who mistook them for bandits and fled blindly to a random direction. The cavalier shot after him – Sakalam lagging just a foot behind – and stopped right before the lurking thief where his sword cut him across the shoulder. The child stumbled shaking on his rear, capturing the moment of suffering the thief staggered with, unable to look away from the large gash of flesh that opened like a second mouth vomiting red. The overpowering violence paralyzed him. Chaos swallowed him. Sakalam swooped in with her axe and cut off the thief's head. The brat let out a shrill scream, a scream that rejected the violence. There was no way to resist the chaos the village had fallen into. Left and right, people danced to the tune of panic, not knowing friend from foe. Sakalam and her men had joined in a whirlpool they were unable to stop. With no time to bark her orders, Sakalam carried with her the thief's bloody head to the centre of the village. She must not be collected, must not be reasonable, must not be sane. She must be madder than the flames, more twisted than the murderers, and more gruesome than the corpses. There was no way to stop chaos, but there was a way to control it. “ LISTEN UP YOU FUCKERS!” Sakalam bellowed, thrashing a nearby burning house with her axe. “I AM THE MIGHTY KHAN OF EAST FEROX WITH THE HEAD WORTH NO VALUE. THE COST OF IMMORTALITY IS SUCH – YOUR NAME IN HISTORY! – COME! SLAY ME! I AM MEAT TO SAVOUR FOR ETERNITY!” Sakalam lobbed the head of the thief at the barbarians. One way to control chaos was to be the centre of it. The barbarians did not hesitate. From four different directions, they charged at Sakalam, who stood alone with a streak of the thief's blood across her cheek. It was easier to protect herself than to protect the entire villagers; however, she was certain there were others in need of further assistance. There was the case of their rogue manakete too, who might have already escaped or was lurking in the blaze in human form. Sakalam could not think of these possibilities. She had to focus on her own survival. For the rest, she trusted her captain to make the right choices. Seris

some coincidences are deliberate Clad in her colossal armor, Seris advanced unfalteringly. There was nothing particularly special about this village. Hardly more than a footnote on the maps, but it still had been razed. Well, was being razed would be a more accurate description. In the dark of night it was blazing brightly still. The logistics meant that in some ways they would be too late. Seris wasn't a defeatist, but a realist. If half the town was burned to ashes, then it wasn't going to be 'fixable.' The village would likely have to start over from scratch. But in order to do that, they needed the villagers.
Her khan, Sakalam rushed in ahead of the few soldiers they had gathered up on the way. There had been next to no time. "You!" she barked, pointing at the cavalier who was a part of their band. "Stay close to the khan, and follow her!" She had confidence that the khan could hold her own against petty barbarians and thieves taking advantage of the attack on the village, but she was a captain. She had a duty to see that the khan survived.
The hasty report they had gotten of the situation in the village though left no doubt in her mind that there was something far worse than nameless thugs. A dragon, she thought to herself, her expression hardening. If a dragon truly is here than we could really use more men. Feroxian or not, I'd rather not take chances with that.
She turned around, her massive armor leaving no room for subtlety. "The rest of you lot with me! We're going into the town. Find any survivors and get them out of there!" What didn't need to be spoken out loud was to keep an eye out for that dragon. The dark skies above were quiet, aside from the crackling fires that spread through the village. "ADVANCE!" The village was naught but flame and blood, with the survivors desperately trying to find a way to stay so. If the dragon wasn't enough, the raiders and barbarians were trying to finish what it started.. and they were doing a good job at it.
As he entered the village, he tried to avert his own eyes as much as possible, including against a lone villager who was on the roof as an ax buried itself into the back of his back, causing him to fall into the fire he was trying to put out and screaming as he was helplessly burning alive. Whether or not the authorities were around, Rani couldn't continue to watch as these people were slaughtered like animals. Calming himself, he climbed the roof of a recently put out building, and set his sights on the barbarians. They weren't particularly hard to spot, but with flames and distractions, they were hard to sight.
CRACK!
Too late, the young man realized that a recently burned building could be unstable, and before he could take his first shot, the roof gave way, causing the archer to fall through into the house and land with a hard thud. While Rani would have loved nothing more than to pause and address the sudden pain he had.. there was no time, and he immediately pushed himself up and checked his corners.. no one. He picked up his bow and the arrow that was previously notched and re-notched it for use, just as the doorway to the outside burst open.
It took everything for him not to immediately fire at the figures in the door, mostly because they did not look like the barbarians running through the town. In fact, they looked organized, discipline. Soldiers. Instead of saying anything, Rani stood there, breathing slightly heavier than normal as he held the bow taught and ready, waiting to see what these men will do.. and what their purpose was. |
