Dorian awoke to the sensation of his tent falling on top of him, the noble making an undignified squawk and flailing his arms before his panic died down and he realized that he was safe enough, just being crushed by a pole that was slowly cutting off the circulation in one of his legs. Huffing softly to himself, he reached up enough to give himself a bit of space with his forearm even as he glanced around, looking for either his blade or the tent opening, whichever he happened to find first. His eyes took a moment to adjust to the dappled light that was coming in, but much to his dismay, by the time that happened, his leg was starting to tingle slightly when he'd shift it the least little bit and not only was the opening nowhere in sight, but his sword was suspiciously missing. The lord huffed softly in exasperation, blowing some of his hair out of his face, and then he carefully adjusted himself, pushing the pole off of his leg and sliding out from under it as swiftly as he could, the pampered noble slender and fit but not wanting to push his luck by holding such a thing up for a long time.
The noble rolled into the darkness, feeling the fabric coming down around him and hearing the metal pole clunk loudly against the ground, no doubt having hit a rock of some kind. Spitting some of his lavender hair out of his mouth, the lord's crystal blue eyes peered blearily through what little he could see through the light of the tent, mind working as quickly as possible. He didn't want to worry any of his Knights for no reason, not when he was entirely unharmed, but that was a hard thing with the tent down and the man still entirely unable to see exactly where everything was, never mind understand where the tent flap was or locate his sword. Brushing some of his hair back out of his eyes as best he could, he turned and tried to make his way through the folds to where he last remembered his blade being, hoping against hope that he would manage to find it before one of his Knights did. He wasn't really in the mood to be coddled right now, though he supposed it was a good thing the tent had collapsed like that. If it was morning, he might be able to help with taking down the camp the way that he usually missed since he was too used to sleeping in from his days as a noble's son rather than a commander. | | Words. -- Tags. Xavier and others Notes. Dorian you are a failure. Also even though I'm tagging Xave, any of the Knights can add themselves in here provided that you ask both me and Redox first. c:

he had a hundred souls and a hundred to go despite xavier's generally gregarious behavior and disregard for the responsibilities that didn't suit him, he was one of those people who woke before most. he performed a quick sweep of the perimeter for suspicious activity. xavier doubts that most of the knights wanted to be jumped by risen in anything but a full suit of armor. or at least not in their briefs or panties. he spends the next half hour after that sharpening his lance against a whetstone. forging became expensive in times like these when anyone who could lift a weapon seemed to be lined up at the blacksmith's door. if there was a way to cut costs, xavier does what he can. he's practicing in an open field when he hears some kind of ruffling in the direction of camp. he's tempted to continue, but he also needs to make sure. when he makes his way to the collapsed tent, xavier can't stifle a laugh. not loud enough to wake the camp, but certainly loud enough for the occupant to hear. "is there a risen in there, or did you kick down a pole in the middle of the night again?" DorianLAIKA OF GS!

Dorian was a great many things - able to withstand the sound of laughter when in a position that made a fool out of himself, however, was something that still took him a moment as the old noble blood in him brindled at the sound of laughter. He stiffened, tensing up and stilling in his groping through the tent, though after a moment he relaxed again, sighing in relief. He was okay. It was only Xavier. There was nothing for him to be afraid of. Letting out a deep breath he hadn't even been aware he was holding, the lord turned his head to call over his shoulder, "I don't know, that depends. Are Risen normally the victims of tent poles falling on them in the middle of the night, or is it just this unlucky one?" he joked, a smile tugging at his lips.
Of course, it would have to be then that his arm would hit a shaky patch of ground, his wrist giving out and sending his torso to the earth with a loud thud. "I'm all right!" he called, groaning softly. "I'm fine." Of course, the moment he shifted, he felt something brush against the side of his hand that made a slightly metallic sound as it bounced. His sword? Likely. Hopefully. "Xavier?" Dorian asked, "I hate to sound like the pathetic pampered noble... but would you mind giving me some indication where you are so that if I cut my way out, I don't accidentally gut you in the process?" | | Words. -- Tags. Xavier and others Notes. Best lord ever right here folks, 10/10 would have him command their army as a repeat.

he had a hundred souls and a hundred to go the lieutenant makes no move to help him out of the tent. taking a sword in the gut for the captain is one thing. watching his captain suffer a tent is another. he'd risk himself any day for a comrade but in the meantime, he takes greater pleasure in acting as the smug older brother figure. xavier snorts. "i'd like to see you try, to be honest. the day that i let a swordsman pierce me is the day that i'll turn in my badge." lancers are obviously superior, and it's only noble pride that keeps most of them from realizing that. "you can hear me talking, can't you? naga, you're going to be a wreck in the next battle if you can't hear someone sneaking up behind you." it wasn't entirely an empty jibe. of course dorian had the full might of his knights behind him, but the lord who couldn't stand alone often became easy pickings. it's one of the reasons that xavier had never envied the title. he grins. "speaking of which, i guess i better keep talking if i don't want a rapier in my general direction."Dorian LAIKA OF GS!

Dorian let out a soft little growl. Oh, so Xavier was going to take a leaf out of Basil's book? Well, fine then, see if the lord ever did him a favor. Though the noble knew that he would anyway, he was nothing if not loyal, even when he was a little sulky over something. Call it a remnant of his pampered noble days where he was practically spoiled rotten before he grounded himself with the servants and his new responsibilities. "Don't say I didn't warn you then," the lord muttered, tightening his grip on what he grasped, the familiar feeling of a hilt making itself known. The noble flicked his wrist, easily making a hole through the fabric, and from there, it was a simple matter for him to squirm his way out, squinting at the light.
"In battle I don't have to be so careful about where I'm cutting," the lord stated with a roll of his eyes. "I can slash without worrying so much about where you are in relationship to my blade." Tossing the sword a short ways away, the noble ducked his head back into the tent so that he could extract his rapier as well, buckling both sheaths to his waist and wearing them comfortably. "Sounds like you though, Xavier, talking your way out of just about everything but that other pegasus rider." That's right, Xavier, he'd seen the way that you were with the male who was always flitting around the Knights of Cydonia.
Though the gentle, teasing smile soon faded from Dorian's face. "I suppose it isn't a bad thing that you were the one to find me like that," he stated, shaking his head and running a hand through his lavender locks, his crystal eyes averted from the pegasus knight's. "I... wanted to talk to you about Plegia." | | Words. -- Tags. Xavier and others Notes. Setting for this is just before he makes his big speech in the middle of Ylisstol. Thus, timeline-wise, I'm imagining your thread with Maeve has already happened and Dorian's since gotten the idea that he needs to go to Plegia and he's wanting Xave's input on that decision since he isn't sure if he can talk about it to the tacticians yet to make a plan.

he had a hundred souls and a hundred to go "duh, because i'm about a hundred yards in front, cutting through the hordes before they get to the lord. that's how basic war tactics work, right? protect the king at all expenses, else the war is lost." xavier snickers, wondering how much a noble's pride could take in the morning. probably not as much as he wishes. he gets up to pour himself a glass of milk and asks dorian if he wants any as an afterthought. "i have no idea what you mean." he tells dorian, and he means it. "i'm on first name basis with the vast majority of the pegasus knights in the regular army. if new recruits have been coming in, then i wouldn't know." if only because he's been on a diplomatic trip to plegia for the past few weeks and marching with the knights for the most part. really, the random guy whom he had met in a field doesn't even come to mind. thinking about him was liable to pop a blood vessel in xavier's head. "we're talking now, aren't we? so talk."Dorian LAIKA OF GS!

"Yes, well, if that's your job, Xavier, you've missed quite a few enemies," Dorian joked, shrugging his shoulders and turning to start running his fingers through his lavender hair, trying to clean it up from having the tent fall on him. His hair tended to frizz out and tangle up rather easily, both of which took quite a fair bit away from the lordly effect he needed to carry with him as the leader of the Knights of the Cydonia. Waving away the offer, he settled down on a stool with a natural air that seemed almost at odds with his position.
A roll of crystal eyes accompanied that. "I'm quite aware of that, Xavier. I was meaning more... the redhead that keeps popping up around every now and then." The lord then appeared pensive. "Though now that I mention him... I don't think I've seen him flitting around the camp in quite a while. Did you happen to 'take care' of him while you were away from the main company?" Though his tone was light, jesting, there was a mild curiosity lurking behind the words, though if the pegasus knight expressed a wish to avoid the subject, he was more than content to let it lie.
The lord leaned back in his seat, the movement slow, something he'd picked up from Basil - it was calculated to buy time, as was the nervous wetting of his lips, tongue poking out for a moment before it withdrew again. "I want to travel there with the whole company. I think there's a good chance the Fire Emblem is there... not to mention that I think if we don't have the Plegians behind us, we risk losing this fight." | | Words. -- Tags. Xavier and others Notes. Vaigali made waggling eyebrows at Xave before he went to go chase after Kama. Stupid pegasus boy has it bad for gingers, methinks. He's not hit on anything else at all. :l
Though that being said, I've not been threading him much outside of gingers, so... *weighs out options and shrugs*
