BIO
• So his family isn't actually royalty, but it's noble enough to have a solid estate in the part of Ylisstol that's still paved with snow white stones. The parts that haven't been picked away by hunger riots, anyway. Their exalt blood had always been too diluted for real power before, but fortunes change. He had an uncle that had died honorably for the exalt a generation back or so. Xavier's not too sure, but it had something to do with the family's recently elevated status. Recent meaning that they haven't been sipping wine out of crystal goblets for more than a few decades, anyway. History was never his area -- go check with a scribe or something.
• He's been through the books and the swordplay, but he's never contented himself to being the piece to be guarded by a line of bishops and rooks. While others were familiarizing themselves with their betrothed, Xavier had a tendency of escaping his guards to meet with an unknown youth.
• Ylisstol burns in the backdrop of the sooty streets, but that didn't seem important. Not when Xavier couldn't find him in all that chaos and panic. He's pretty sure that makes him a horrible lord, but he had never chosen his lordship first. He's a man who would die for his choices, but even that's not enough to bring him back.
• For awhile, Xavier had sent people out to search for him. They return with no results. Intelligence specialists turn up nothing. There is a limit to what he can do during times of crisis. Soldiers have to step over the corpses of civilians to deliver official mail to Ylisstol. All that Xavier can do is hope that one of them isn't his. He quits searching and spends the family fortune on swords and horses for the chevaliers.
• He joins the Knights of Cydonia and climbs their ranks steadily with the occasional bout ofstupidity heroism. He hopes to replace the peaceful days in the market and the pegasi fields, but even Xavier knows that it is only a platitude. There are some forms of peace that can never be restored, once lost.
OTHER
There's this weird misconception about princelings who don't go around announcing that they're nobles. That's set up a few interesting adventures in his youth. There have always been tales about the weak prince who can't live up to their heritage or some misplaced sense of modesty. Xavier is neither of those. He'd probably place bets on himself in the sparring arena if he could.
If anyone gives him shit about specializing in flying horses, he'd be glad to teach those boys a thing or two about aerial superiority. Annoyingly enough, just because he does not have a sword in hand does not mean that he can ever escape being the son of a great lord. He knows that better than anyone. But for as long as the other Ylisseans are too proud to abandon their swords for the ugly axes of "Plegian barbarians", Xavier's advantage remains, and he's only too happy to chase his fellows with javelins. At the same time, he's surprisingly gentle with pegasi and attentive to their needs. Xavier would say that there is no shame in being adept at any skill.
