The last little while had been mainly uneventful. Yaesa had agreed to follow Brendan until he was safe and sound with his father; and frankly, why wouldn't she? She was no stranger to a pilgrimage. She had learned to hunt from the nomad clan, and she made sure that her and Brendan travelled in relative comfort. Unfortunately, comfort did not mean speed. While Yaesa could fly over the hills and valleys to Plegia, she knew that it would be cold and uncomfortable for the boy she had taken under her wing... both figuratively and literally. She hoped to keep him healthy and safe along the way, but life was rarely so peaceful in Ylisse. Bandits were streaming from the borders in hoards. Land travel was perilous, air travel was chilling. But at least the demons of the lands were more familiar to the boy, and so there they remained.
Right now, due to the boy's held tongue, the plan was simply to follow him wherever he lead her, with some pitstops along the way. However, as usual when Yaesa traveled to a city, she had to stop by its marketplace for supplies. While living off of the fauna that they hunted was fine, sometimes it was just too much effort to hunt down an animal or find an herb or berry. She liked to keep some jerky stocked for such occasions in her travel pack, as well as some other things that were necessary for comfort. Her sleeping roll was getting a bit tatty as well.
And so it was in a very similar situation, where Yaesa had her face pointed at a merchant and not at the crowd around her, that she would be likely to meet another familiar face. The only reason she might recognize the face? It was the only other manakete she had ever met besides the ones that she was with in the nomad tribe.
