Soft, frigid winds blew across a field of white. Snow fell in heavy measures, piling up upon the land and painting the soil of Ferox with even more of the weather it favored most in these parts. It was a good thing that the cold never truly bothered Eirlys. She practically seemed to blend in with the weather of the day, from her ivory hair to the pure white furred robes she wore. The only real thing that stuck out was the black staff that she used as a walking stick and the fluffy tail that occasionally swiped about in order to shake off snow that piled up on it. Bare feet tread across the snow with each step, unphased by the cold thanks to her heritage. It was something to be thankful to her mother for. The Divine Dragon had begun to pick up some things about this new era from a village she'd left earlier. Now she was on her way to another larger one further south. She'd learned that she was now in a country called "Regna Ferox", the northern half of... what was it they were now calling Archanea again? Ylox? Yloose? Well whatever, it didn't matter that much right now. But apparently it was constantly at war with half of itself or something. If Eirlys remembered her geography right, "West" Ferox was actually the old Kingdom of Archanea while "East" Ferox was Aurelis. An interesting bit of development there. And then there were two more nations down south. Pelican and Yloose. What odd names for countries. But they seemed to cover areas such as Altea for Pelican and Talys for Yloose. A division of east and west once more that this time seemed to truly differentiate itself. Eirlys heard that the two oddly named nations were quite at odds with each other over matters of religion. Perhaps she'd find out more about that in this next village as well. For now though, it was just Eirlys and the pure white snow that fell from the sky, crunched below her feet, and desired to make her white robes all the whiter. --- Tags: Freja

The only thing Freja could hear within these rough, harsh winter fields was the sound of the soft frigid winds blowing across. This region of Ferox was unusually north of where Freja would usually go in her search for fame and recognition, but today, Freja was rather trying to re-evaluate her life's direction. Was this aimless wandering really the right approach to attaining her goals? Or did she, eventually, have to swear fealty to a Khan? It was quite nerve-wracking for the woman, casually resting her huge axe on her shoulder. Freja's hair was as white as the snow as well, the only thing making her stand out in the tundra was her jet-black trademark dress, which was what made her... Well, her. She had expected to be alone in this venture, but in the distance Freja had spotted another lady dressed in robes of purest white, which made it rather difficult to make out her figure when the rest of everything in this damned place was also white. Freja had noticed her slow, walking pace, and the fact she was barefoot. Though the lady walking barefoot showed no obvious signs of being really affected by the cold, Freja figured that if she was treading along like that, maybe she might have needed some guidance in these rough conditions. Freja was unable to notice anything unusual about the other lady from her distance, but as Freja soon began to somehow run through the snow to make her approach, she could only see that the woman held a staff. Freja had not, at the time, noticed that the woman possessed a fluffy tail. When Freja got close enough to the woman, she kept herself at an arm's length since she didn't want to drive her axe down into the snow and ruin the field. " Miss! What are you doing alone in the snowfields like this? Are you, perhaps, lost and in need of direction?" Freja asked calmly, her hair began to billow a little bit as the winds, soft as they were, intensified ever so slightly. Tag: Eirlys

Eirlys halted in her tracks, turning her head slowly to the source of the sound. Now that Freja had gotten close, she could see the rigid ivory protrusions that adorned her brow and forehead. The white clad woman turned to face the black clothed woman fully, a set of scales visible near her throat that was just above the beginning of her furred robes. "No, I am fine. I am heading to the village in the direction you saw me going." Eirlys titled her head slightly as she continued to look at the dark skinned woman. "But what are you doing out here, human? Surely you cannot bear this cold like I." Her emerald eyes gazed into Freja's. "Are you in need of aid?"--- Tags: Freja

Now that Freja was close enough to look at the woman's face, Freja had an expression of mild surprise on her face. Rigid ivory protrusions that adorned her brow and forehead. A set of scales visible near her throat, just above where her robes began. And only now did she observe that fluffy white tail. Now she knew - that this woman was not really a human, nor even a Taguel, but in fact, she must be a manakete. She had heard stories about this race when she was still very young, still growing up. An ancient race of dragon-folk who had to contain their massive power as feral dragons in the form of magical stones - "Dragonstones" - that could be used to allow them to transform at will. Freja only really knew about them in stories. She had never seen one up close. It figured that from her tail and her relative immunity to the weather conditions here, she must have had the blood of some icy variety of dragon. A Snow Dragon? Nah, that seemed too simple. The manakete's emerald eyes looked back at Freja's own, and she asked if Freja needed any aid. A funny, but normal question to ask, but the warrior had come here on her own. " Ah, the village out here. I see. As for me? Well, I came out here on my own. My body is well accustomed to radical temperatures. I have trained myself to withstand both the cold and heat. I am fine, thank you," Freja simply answered. " I was here on a retrospective. Just thinking on some things. Then I saw you. I've got nothing better to do other than that, so if you like, maybe I can accompany you." Tags: Eirlys

Eirlys looked thoughtful for a moment. From what she gathered so far, the people of this Ferox kingdom favored themselves as warriors. Not so odd for one of them to be trying to train their bodies for stronger climates, perhaps. Well, whatever. The oddity of humans wasn't all that big a concern to her. Retrospective though, eh? Now that was something Eirlys could understand all too well. Seclusion had a way of making the mind think. Just thinking and thinking, regretting and regretting. Yes, Eirlys understood seclusion and retrospection. "Hmm... Yes, I could do with a traveling companion. This world is very foreign to me now. There are many different lands from which I knew before. It would be nice if you could inform me of the different lands now. Or simply tell me more of this Regna Ferox if you wish."--- Tags: Freja

The manakete seemed to be thoughtful for a brief moment, as if thinking about the implications of what Freja just said. Shortly thereafter she said she could do with a traveling companion. Apparently, the world was very foreign to her right now, which could only mean that the manakete had secluded herself away from the rest of humanity for many, many years, either through some form of hibernation or through some form of hermitage. Nodding, Freja didn't have a problem with briefly orienting the manakete with the land now. She seemed nice enough and didn't want to freeze her on the spot, so for now, Freja would just treat her like she would any other friendly stranger. "Well, as you wish. I'll be glad to help out. By the way, my name is Freja. Anyway, I can tell you anything you'd like to know on our way to that village. I was going to go there sooner or later, anyways," Freja said.
Once the manakete was ready to continue on her way, Freja would begin to explain about the situation at present. "I'm not entirely sure how long you've been away, so to speak. But I'll be more than happy to inform you about things as they are at present. Seems that at the very least, you know that you're in Regna Ferox. In the stories, I was told that a long time ago, this area was part of what was originally called 'Archanaea,' but now it's just north of the area we call 'Ylisse.' The eastern and western parts of Regna Ferox... They're not really always at odds with each other, but each side has one ruler, out of those two, only one's really in power at once. The ruler who... well, is really in charge, is decided in a big fighting tournament," Freja explained, stopping for a moment to catch her breath. She was not used to speaking so much in such a time.
"The rulers pick someone to fight for them - their champion, who can't be related to them - and have them fight each other. The champion who wins determines the ruler who has the real power over Regna Ferox. Well, I guess from that you can pretty much infer that we're a militant nation. To the south... Well, we've got Ylisse and Plegia. They've always been fighting against each other since the time I was born. Those two nations are very religious. Ylisseans worship the Divine Dragon, Naga while Plegians worship the Fell Dragon, Grima. I guess, being who you are, you must be far more knowledgeable about these dragon deities than I."
Freja stopped speaking for a few moments. But just as when the lady in white robes would think Freja had stopped talking, she started again.
"There's been quite a crisis lately. I've heard of a civil war going on in Plegia thanks to some tavern rats. The extreme cultists of the Fell Dragon seem to be at odds with the royal faction. Who would have thought that some people within the nation wouldn't be completely on board with the resurrection of an intelligent Earth Dragon who probably would end up destroying everything we hold dear to ourselves? Haha. Of course, many brave Ylisseans would also be on the case."
Freja fidgeted and sighed, leaving some breathing room in case the manakete had more specific questions.

Eirlys nodded to Freja before starting to turn around once more. "I am called Eirlys." She began to walk ahead once more as the dark skinned Feroxi joined her. The furred robes she wore drifted across the snow as she walked, gathering bits of frost while her tail shook off a bit of snow that had gathered while they stood still. She briefly paused in her steps, but began to move forward once more as she talked of Ylisse's (not Yloose's) problems with Plegia (not Pelican). "They... worship the King like a deity? How odd you humans can be sometimes." It really was a head scratcher for Eirlys. Though it was true that Naga always had been the greatest of Dragons. Perhaps it was that strength that drew the humans' worship? Honestly, the white clad Manakete could definitely see that. Naga had a way about her that drew one and all to the leadership and guidance she offered back during that era. However, that other name was a complete blank. "Grima? No, I cannot say I've heard that name before. If he is an Earth Dragon as you say though, that means the Dragon's Table must have been compromised."Not a good thing to find that out. What had happened with Medeus? She began to ponder over the guardian's fate. Had the Earth Prince found his match in someone? Hm... The situation required more questions. But Eirlys began to wonder if she could ever find proper answers. However, it was obvious now that she needed to head further south. Perhaps she could find a Manakete who was old enough to know more exacts about the situation. "At any rate, it seems I should head for this Plegia. Or perhaps Ylisse? Hm..." Eirlys tilted her head as she thought, her ivory locks swaying to one side. "If Ylisse pays tribute to Naga, then perhaps I will find someone more informed of the situation there. Plegia sounds quite compromised, even if there is a group wise enough to stand against fools."--- Tags: Freja

Freja nodded as the manakete introduced herself as Eirlys. What a name, to be sure. To her, it seemed to fit the kind of aura Freja felt her exuding. Or perhaps it was all just in her head. Regardless, the two of them began to walk towards that direction, with the dragon woman briefly paused in her steps, and expressed some mild incredulity at how the Ylisseans worshipped the King like a deity. Freja didn't want to ask about that, it wasn't really her business after all. She did comment on the 'oddity' bit though. "Us humans can't compare in strength to the dragons. That's all I'll say about it. People revere that which is strong and benevolent." As Eirlys said she wasn't familiar about the Fell Dragon though, she mentioned something about the Dragon's Table being compromised. Freja was mildly curious about that but this wasn't really the time for that kind of question. What was more interesting was Eirlys' intent to head south to learn more of the situation, as if anybody could explain it better right now with everything pretty much going to hell.
"Plegia is dangerous," Freja sighed, shrugging. "Even if you can handle yourself, you'd probably be better served asking around in Ylisse. You'd be treated with more respect there, I think. Unfortunately, I don't think I'd be joining you, as interesting as seeing you has been. I've got my own things to attend to here in Ferox. Affairs of men can surely be troublesome."

Hrm. It wasn't that much to take in, really. But it was alot of weight nonetheless. How else had things changed over the years? What even was the year? How long had she sequestered herself away now? How many other vital things like this did she miss? 'Oh Naga, please forgive me for being a coward...' Eirlys took a deep breathe as the mental plea passed through her mind and let it out in a long sigh. "So many things have happened and changed the face of this continent over the years. To think so much had happened while I slept. Just what... has come to pass? It is a shame that we shall depart each others' company so soon, but there are many things I will need answered and I must find people capable of properly answering them." Eirlys sighed once more and looked to Freja, her face wearing a sorrowful expression. "I am grateful for what you have been able to tell me, however. Alas though, I definitely cannot stay up here now that I am aware of such things. I am just a Dragon, but I must do what I can to figure out what is going on and hopefully fix whatever has occurred with this Grima creature."Yes, Eirlys was just a Dragon. She was not worthy of her Tribe. But nonetheless, she had to repent. She had to redeem her mistake of the past. It was the only thing she could do. And if she died in the quest of fulfilling that moment, then so be it. Her's was a life worth little anyways. Just a failure who ran and slept for uncounted years while everything was chaotic. King Naga forgive her lost Eirlys, even if she didn't deserve it. But maybe fixing this could earn at least that much. "Please, allow me to get you to that village faster. I am worried that I may be short of time if I do not find out as much as I can as quickly as I can. After we get there, I am afraid I must take my leave."--- Tags: Freja

Freja blinked as she saw Eirlys take a deep breathe as if she had just thought of something. Not wanting to pry into her thoughts, Freja just stayed by her side. And then the response came proper, as the manakete expressed her intent to take a better look at the world around her. And find the answers to the questions she had. Freja didn't find it her business, but it was a bit disappointing that she didn't really get to learn much about anything herself. Well, it couldn't be helped. Freja silently nodded in response to what Eirlys said. The silver-haired warrior with the axe looked on ahead. She remained silent, until Eirlys offered to help Freja get to the village faster. " ...If you do not mind, that would be most appreciated. I'd wish not to take up much of your time as it appears that you are of dire need to get there quickly. But if you are willing to spare some of your time and energy for someone like me, then please do..." Freja nodded, smiling weakly. Tags: Eirlys

Eirlys extended her staff towards Freja after hearing her acceptance. "Please, hold this for me." After the dark-skinned woman took her staff, the ivory manakete turned and walked away before stopping in her tracks. She took in a deep breathe and began to let it out. A familiar power began to rise, one unused for so very long. It flowed through her veins, burning in a way that seemed more fulfilling than painful. Her body began to glow with a pale light. Soon she turned brighter and glowed with a beautiful glistening silver that seemed to reflect off of the white snow field. And then her whole body was consumed by the light. It grew in size and shape, taking on a vague outline. And soon a great fore arm burst from the light, brimming with sharpened silver claws that were reminiscent of Chon'sin's curved swords. White fur that was the same composition of her robes adorned the limb. Soon another arm and two feet joined the snow. The four limbs crashed down heavily upon the snow, a loud set of crunching sounds echoing across the field. And then a great tail burst forth from the light, covered in fur and fluff. It whipped out at the ground, brushing a great pile of snow aside as it did so. And then two wings emerged, feathered and unlike the usual leathery wings of other Dragons. The light began to fully coalesce now, breaking apart as her torso was revealed. It too glistened with ivory fur, a few scales peeking out here and there among a thick layer of frost that seemed to be a natural part of her body. A few pieces of thick ice adorned Eirlys' body as well, reminiscent of armor in it's shape. And finally her head was unveiled, bone-like ridges once more adorning her face, though now they were more numerous and larger. Four rigid ivory horns also grew out from the top of her head, curving up and into the air. Eirlys was immense in size and her wingspan vast. This Dragon was no mere wyrmling, she was old and she was strong. This was her true form, the one that she felt most at home with. And it was with this body that she initially fled to frozen mountains to get away from the world and her failure. But now, now it would be put to a good use, one way or another. The immense Dragon crouched low and craned her neck to look back at Freja. "Climb on and hold on tight to my neck."--- Tags: Freja

Freja blinked again as she took the staff from Eirlys with her free hand, leaving the lady to wonder something for a brief moment. Yet she was unable to dwell too much on that issue as she began to witness the other lady's transformation. Eirlys' body was glowing and as the light became brighter and brighter, almost silvery, Freja could only squint as she dared not to stare into the light for too long. The warrior could barely make out the shape of a body in there, growing in size and shape, taking on a dramatically different outline compared to earlier, and it was only a matter of time before limbs sprung out of the light, silver, sharpened claws that looked to rival the sharpened Chon'sin scimitars, and these limbs were adorned with beautiful white fur. Crash! Down to the snow they landed, and soon to be followed by a rather massive tail, furry and fluffy as it seemed, Freja simply looked in silent awe. By the time the light had coalesced and dissipated, Freja found herself looking up towards Eirlys, now a great snowy dragon. The head was somehow adorned with bone-like ridges, and four ivory horns grew out from the top of her head. They curved up and into the air. As Eirlys, now in the form of a majestic Dragon, crouched low and craned her neck, Freja decided to wing it and hold both Eirlys' staff and her own axe in one hand. Fortunately, the handle of her axe was thin enough that she could wrap her arms around the centerpoint of the staff and the axe, making some sort of strange amalgamation of a pole-arm if they were taped together. Freja acknowledged, holding both axe and staff in hand, while using her now unoccupied hand to hold as tightly as she could to Eirlys' neck. " Whenever you are ready. Your staff will be safe with me." Freja simply said. Tags: Eirlys

Eirlys' feathery wings unfurled as Freja spoke and the mighty Dragon began to raise her head up once more. Her limbs tensed and her wings stiffened before Eirlys shot up into the air through force of body and lift of wings. Mighty buffets of air washed over the ground below, washing away the white and leaving behind a large patch of green in the snowy landscape. For Freja, the rush was overpowering, forcing her downwards against Eirlys. In mere seconds, they were a great height above ground and the ivory Dragon briefly paused in place. "Are you alright?"After receiving an answer, Eirlys began to shift position once more. Her body began to soar forward through the air at a leisurely pace for her normally earthbound companion. Human friends of her's back during her era had always seemed to get sick all too easily the first time they went for a ride. It was one of her funnier memories of that time. Nonetheless, she began to pick up more speed as time passed. The soft breezes of before now seemed much harsher as she flew through the sky, still undaunted by the harsh weather. "Tell me. How are you enjoying flying?"--- Tags: Freja

Freja could feel the air pressure weighing heavily down on her, forcing her down against Eirlys' draconic form, it was a strange sensation, but fortunately, she did not feel very sick at such a high altitude. Her body must have been quite tough to be able to still feel relatively alright from that sudden change in altitude. When Eirlys asked if Freja was alright, the woman could only barely yell out an answer in the affirmative, mentioning that she was quite alright. As the dragon flew through the sky, braving the harsher winds, she had asked how Freja was enjoying flying. Truthfully, this would be Freja's first time actually flying - either on the back of a dragon like she was doing now, or on a wyvern (which she had expressed interest in at some point during her youth). " This is quite an experience! I am speechless to describe it. It is certainly eye-opening." Freja could barely say as she attempted to let her voice cut through the air so Eirlys could hear her clearly. " Seeing everything down there as just small specks, it just goes to show how insignificant most things are down there from the perspective of those that can fly, like birds. Well, that's how I see it. It's humbling." Tagge: Eirlys

"Small, perhaps. But never insignificant." Eirlys began to speak up once more. "Each life, be it beast or man, is always significant. Every last person in this world, be they Human or Dragon, has the potential to be something grand and magnificent. I must confess, it is also why I cannot understand cultures like this Ferox of your's." As they continued to fly, there was a great many sights down below. From animals flitting about as they flew over wooded areas to people traveling along roads that looked up with amazement at the Dragon and her rider. "All life is significant, how can you Humans stand to promote killing? Do you not remember the Earth Dragons? The horrors they committed in their barbaric acts as they slaughtered, ate, and tore apart the world... How can you... How can you stand it?" The Dragon's voice sounded strained as she asked the final question. "What sane culture promotes the act of killing in order to raise your status? I cannot understand it..."Eirlys drew in a breathe before sighing, sounding more like a sudden gust of wind given her titanic form. "I apologize, but I just cannot understand it. I saw them first hand, I saw the horrific aftermath of entire villages eaten up with their entrails and viscera all over the place. How can a culture promote murder? I cannot understand it. And I am sorry, but I do not wish to understand it."She became silent after the final sentence, flying ever forward until her speed began to slow. "There is the village. I shall let you off on the outskirts." The ivory Dragon eventually came to a halt, her altitude lowering, albeit slowly. Eventually she landed with a great booming sound, a natural side effect of her size. "I hope to see you again one day, Freja of Ferox. But if you do not wish to see me again for my words, then I shall understand." After the dark-skinned woman climbed off of her neck, Eirlys' draconic form began to glow and change back to her humanoid form. Notably however, her feathery wings still remained, albeit not quite as large as before. --- Tags: Freja
