BIO
• Athanasia was born to a warrior clan found within the mountain ranges of the Regna Ferox, known as Suebi, a roaming nomad tribe that used the harsh terrain and weather to repel assaults from enemy tribes. They knew everything a man could about the mountains and how to survive its terrible dangers. The tribe mostly survived off of what they hunted but occasionally found use in spending what few bullions they had on something needed.
• While a proud man of the tribe, Athanasia's grandfather was visionary of a man. He could see that a life in the frozen lands was nothing but a withering existence that would end with their extinction. He needed a way to move his people beyond the solitary life they'd taken comfort in. So he sent his fifth grandchild, the youngest, to learn the ways of the civilized man across the great waters. With what little bullions they had, and a favor called in with a noble whose life the grandfather had saved years long past, the girl was sent to one of the few schools they could afford. She was only ten when they sent her on her own.
• Athanasia arrived at Rosanne's Zelcher Academy for the gifted youngsters after weeks traveling the seas. It was an astute and noble academia, funded by one of Rosanne's greatest Wyvern knights and usually privileged to those of the upper crust of society. It was a place that taught languages, mathematics, history, music, wyvern taming - and not through some classical herding around the beast and pushing it into a corner. Nay, they expected you to grapple with the beast and bring it to its knees. Of course they only "played" with baby wyverns for practice at first, but...
• Seven years had its hardships. In a realm of nobility and
• Graduating from the school, with more than a few contacts secured within the Rosanne lands, the young woman did not immediately head home. No, she decided to go on a journey further west, to the colder lands of that continent. Athanasia had learned that their were Wyvern's here, ones more suited to the cold than the usual brand. She moved through and across the mountain's dangers, avoiding wild life and man alike, cutting down all threats. Then, at the very peak of the mountain ranges, she had found her way into the Caverns of the Wyvern.
• A danger beyond dangers, a land of Wyverns, swarming with nests of the mighty fliers. She made her way through the caverns, carefully, cautiously, traversing their maze like structure. Athanasia could have fought the wyverns. Dominated them and took them home as a trophy. But nay, that would be a waste of energy. For the prize she sought was the mightiest of wyverns within this holy land - the Alpha. And after hours of hiding from the senses of the burly monsters of the icy lands, she had met him.
• He was a mighty beast, standing greater and stronger than any wyvern she'd seen. His body rippled with ancient and tense muscle, his scales the color of ash and sunder, and his eyes. They burned with a greater hatred and beastly fury unlike anything Athanasia had ever experienced. Their battle was thunderous. Claws that could rip a man's body in half. An axe that had never failed her against the perils of her journey. They clashed and tore, fighting their way through the Land of Wyvern's as they pushed one another to their limits. And when her axe finally gave out, she resorted to old practices - grappling. The younger wyvern's swarmed around them, avoiding the battle, screeching at it's disturbance, watching keenly. They would see if their monarch would fall. At the end of their day long battle, both worn and bloodied, when the Holy Land laid broken from their clashing, Athanasia stood victorious after a brutally successful surprise suplex that crashed the creatures head for the fifth time in that fight into the ground. He didn't bother getting back up. She had forced the Alpha Wyvern to kneel.
• It took months for them both to recover. Not just broken bones and bruises, but mentally as well. One does not nearly face one of the most fiercest local-ish wyvern's and merely walk it off. Some scars would never go away, and now she bore the mark of her partner. A slash mark that had nearly torn out her back, just scraping her when tiredness had caused her to be careless. If he'd just been an inch further, the wyvern (named Athan for lack of a better one) would have killed her. Months after that, the two of them had lived together in the wilds and traveling the continent. Athanasia wanted to see everything that had been denied her when she was studying at the academy, too focused on succeeding to really do much else and with a new winged friend to carry her to her destinations the woman threw her-self into the exploration.
• Repelling bandit raids, killing vicious animals, stopping dreadful nobles - she was like a knight out of a fairy tale, some said. They never mentioned that most of it was pure coincidence, mind. Off shooting her landing to hit right into the bandits camp and having to tear her way back out. Only wanting to eat the animals that had been terrorizing villagers without any idea of what was happening. Her walking down the street and the suspicious schemers thinking that she, who knew nothing about them, was plotting to stop their operations and per-emptively sought to put an end to her. More often than she'd like to admit a confused Athanasia found her-self sounded with freshly knocked out men and a noble on his knees begging and pleading that he'd do better with his life if only she'd let him live. Nobles were strange creatures, indeed.
• At the age of nineteen, Athanasia had decided she was sick of Rosanne. If she had to deal with one more fat, sobbing man at her feet or another mass claim of being the savior of a village whenever she fetched dinner the woman was going to snap. So sick, in fact, that she wasn't willing to wait for the returning ship to take her back home. It hadn't been because she remembered throwing up for most of the ride there when she was ten. So grabbing the reins of Athan, the woman had dared to do what few would even consider. She would fly across continents. The ride across the great wa- the Sea, pardon, had only taken a few weeks across on boat. Including poor winds and a fussy ocean bent on stalling their arrival. The bond between the two was strong, master and mastered, and her beast was a proud one. He probably wouldn't want to spend a few weeks forced under deck anyway. Confident that the two of them could cross the ocean together if they pushed hard enough, in the early light of the new day, Athanasia flew off on the back of her best friend. Six days later, the two of them crashed into a beach on the continent of Ylisse completely exhausted. Home sweet home.
• When she'd returned to her people, it had been on the back of her friend. She knew their routine and paths by heart, and a weeks search had ended with her happily landing at the outskirts of people's resting area. She had walked in, dressed in animals skins freshly made and greeted her neighbors for the first time in nine years. It seems that in the time she was gone, two of her brothers and her father had been...taken from them. Torn but still resolute, she met with her Grandfather. They had spent the day and night talking about her life, the things she had seen and studied, the ways of the civilized man that had been graced upon her. He had listened intently to his granddaughters tale, keeping his silence, until she had finished. "The civilized man is an idiot." He proclaimed loudly.
• Her grandfather asked her if she'd learned anything useful. Athanasia took him outside, whistled with two fingers and from the heaven's practically dropped one of the biggest Wyverns he'd ever seen in her life. Then she took her grandfather for the greatest ride of his life, on the back of the great King, past the cloudy skies and across the mountain peaks. When they had returned, he understood the value of her training and had proclaimed the now third youngest the new chieftain.
• Years past and the woman worked towards slowly converting her people to that of an aerial tribe. People who tamed and masters beasts of the skies. It had taken time for her to convince others, usually through taking them on the same magical trip she took her grandfather, and it was hard to come up with enough beasts for them to ride all together. It seemed like there were few kinds of wyvern on their homeland that could withstand the cold, with those who did being rare. So she took to gathering any kind of flying beast; wyverns, pegasi, griffins. She taught her people how to care and mount their beasts, how to traverse the skies above them, how to master their world. They would, as per the teachings passed on to her, wrestle the mount into submission and as Athanasia saw the benefit of a learned mind, slowly taught her people how to read and write. They would not be taken afool by those who thought better than the masters of the skies. Now she works to assert her peoples influence and care for their needs, hoping to fully bring them out of the solitude that her now late grandfather had hoped to remove them from.
OTHER
* Because of her gifted academic experience, Athanasia is more educated than most of the people on the continent. Smartie pants Barbarian Queen
* Athanasia was bullied when she first came to the academy. It lasted a week at best, after she'd handed a third girl a bloodied nose for "staping out of line". The teachers, most of them hardass retired Wyvern knights, declared Athanasia in the right. They were there to teach the children worldly knowledge, not coddle them.
* Red Hair is actually rare in her tribe, which was one of the reasons her grandfather choose her out of the other siblings. The other reason is because she's the near spitting image of his at the time deceased wife when they were young (childhood friends yo). The left girl in the background image is what she looked like when she was Athanasia's age. The right is Athanasia her-self.
* Athanasia is actually looking for a husband - she needs someone to help keep her people safe, so is looking for a strong and reliable man to stand by her side (and to sire heirs).
* Athan is a grumpy wyvern that bears a scare across his snout from when she shoved her axe into his face. He tanked it like a boss and snapped the worn down weapon in half with his jaws.
