BIO
• Born to unusually devout citizens of Ragna Ferox, Thousar spent a great deal of his adolescence (a period of time that is now practically ancient history) as a lowly and willing acolyte of his family's particular faith. He would come to spend his last moments with his father in a chapel, himself a man of the cloth as well.
• Seeking only to be free of responsibilities and lingering reminders of his deceased parent, his aimless wandering led him first to the homes of former soldiers and warriors that dotted the countryside, and ultimately-- to Arena Ferox.
• Thousar would grow well-acquainted with both dangers and rewards of Gladitorial combat and conquest. In his time, he very proudly fought in the pit to garner favor with the then Eastern Khan, and this gesture would not go unnoticed. He would come to fight, albeit for only a brief tour, as their personal Champion.
• He did not, however, end this campaign on his own terms. During what should have been an evenly-matched conflict, when the expectations of him were at their peak, Thousar choked. The slightest hesitation quickly turned into all but complete paralysis, as Thousar watched his opponent deal him a decisive blow. And this is one that would stay with him for the rest of his years.
• His right hand was all but completely ruined. A rather large sword had been driven completely through to the hilt, and with sincere efforts from the medics available, the hand only visibly resembles a functioning one. The grim reality of this is that Thousar cannot bend his fingers much at all, with clenching a fist or holding objects with it being rendered completely impossible.
• And yet, despite his utter failure before a crowd, perhaps his grevious injury garnered sympathy and understanding from his Lanista and his Lord. Following this disgrace, he was given another chance. Thousar was inducted into some manner of knighthood, and to compensate for his physical handicap, was trained to battle atop an imposing winged beast he would come to know as "Hysent".
• His new duty to Ferox had him stationed at a small fortress near the outskirts. And he would serve this station into middle age, driving off local plunder-and-pillage folk with the help of his fellow men and women.
• All good things come to an end. The circumstances of the routing that occurred are unclear, but following an attack from across the border, everyone posted at this fort would be found dead. Most were taken prisoner. The only apparent witness to this would be Thousar himself, who claimed to have been taken prisoner and somehow managed to escape.
• Patience with his failures had worn thin, and he was quickly stripped of his position and his honor. His winged companion, Hysent, he claimed, had been taken by his captors as well. With nowhere left to go with his life-- no meaningful bonds among the living, it is somewhat unsurprising that his grief over just about everything led him back to the clergy, where it all began. His mother, now deceased, would be lucky enough to never learn of his disgrace.
OTHER
• How'd a man with only one fully-functioning hand manage to stay on top of a flying mount? Thousar had a special sort of mitt that he had no trouble getting the reins firmly coiled around. Combine this with his apparent natural affinity for mounted combat in and out of the air, and it isn't so unusual that he would be able to do this.
• What!? This guy's 57? The reason he isn't a crackly brittle-boned old fart is simple: Routine daily fitness. Thosuar does a fair bit of cardio and whatever weightlifting he can manage with his good arm before dawn each morning, so long as he is not incapacitated by illness.
