BIO
Long, long ago, so long that he can scarcely remember, Slein was born in a remote land near yet far to the main continent. Born of grima's power and mortal flesh he was the first of many who would come after him. While not the first manakete ever born in the world he was Grima's first and the first of the fell tribe. These black scaled beasts would serve their dark master in all things and Slein would be their chieftain. In a way he was like a son to the great fell dragon and Slein saw him as a father. Make no mistake though, there was no true familial bond and no love in this relationship. Master and servant, that was the extent of things. Slein was honored simply by being the first of many made to combat the wretched divine dragon and her cursed children. When Grima slept Slein led the charge against the divine dragon's forces for centuries until the day Grima lost. That is where Slein's story truly begins. Long after Grima had been sealed.
The day Grima was struck down Slein too fell into a deep sleep that lasted through many ages. Unlike his creator however Slein woke up free of the malice that once bound him. When he woke almost three-thousand years ago he felt a great burden had been lifted from his shoulders. For so long he had served his master almost as if he had been brainwashed. Now he was free to think, to feel, to do as he pleased. Slein decided that his first order of business should be to make reparations for what he had done in the past. Well. at least that was what his initial decision had been. The notion of atoning fell by the wayside shortly after his travels began when he came across a group of brigands ravaging a village. It was too late for him to save the village itself but he could take vengeance for the villager's who had died there. For a dragon like he it was easy to wipe the brigands out. In the wreckage of the village he found a baby crying for her mother that would not come. She was the sole survivor of the massacre. For the first time in his life Slein was overwhelmed with emotion. He cried for the first time at such a sad sight. Atonement would have to wait, or... perhaps... this was to be his atonement? Instead of taking lives he would ensure that one life would not be snuffed out.
He took the baby in and raised her. Slein settled in a nearby abandoned temple and for years he and the girl he had come to name Reina lived in quiet solitude. Reina grew from an infant into a young woman and over the years Slein changed from a father figure to something else in her eyes. It was never Slein's intent to raise her into his bride but along the way it happened without him ever realizing it. For a time he was happy. Peace seldom ever lasts for long however and word spread that one of grima's fell manakete still lived. Warriors carrying out a sense of misguided justice attacked the temple where he and Reina lived and she died in the confrontation. For the first time in his long life Slein felt rage. Was this what he deserved? Was this his punishment for merely existing? If so then he would see the world burn under his wings. Slein razed the temple and the foolish heroes who sought to end his life with it. He no longer wanted to live in a world like this.
Slein raised Grima's army once more and sought to revive his dark master. He wanted to end the world, end it in darkness and make everyone feel the sadness he now felt. His campaign was short lived for the divine dragon personally made sure it ended abruptly. In the first and last battle of Slein's personal war the divine dragon intervened and struck him down before his army's very eyes. She did not kill him though. The blow she made against him robbed him of his memories and eased his pain whilst also, once more, putting the poor poor boy into a deep and sound slumber. Slein would wake centuries later with no recollection of the events of his past. He was happier this way, not knowing the sadness nor the anger he felt before. Now he was truly free of his burdens. That was the idea anyway. In truth not knowing made him feel empty inside, dead and listless. He wandered the world aimlessly without purpose trying to find his identity. Eventually one of Naga's manakete came to take pity on him and sought him out. She told him the truth. Instead of reverting back to the way he was Slein was just happy now knowing who he was and what he had been. He understood why his memories had to be taken away.
For the third, and final time Slein chose to sleep. He was finally at peace with the world, with himself. He would have slept in his remote location forever but Grima's power caused him to stir. When Grima was struck down and sealed, albeit at great cost, Slein once more awoke. He had no desire to serve ether side of the coming conflict however. In this new age he would simply act as an observer, a neutral party, and see how the heroes of this new age would shape their world. Time had long since changed him from the hot headed whelp that led Grima's armies in the past into someone who wished to avoid conflict. Yet, with his ties to the dragons, both dragons, conflict would likely find a way to him.
OTHER
-Slein's dragon form is that of a black scaled dragon closer to the dragons normally depicted in European legends and less like a leafy sea dragon. Pats of his body, including his wings in full, are covered in feathers. Indeed his wings are almost angelic though still hold a draconic edge to them.
