BIO
• Ydolus is the son of a Plegian refugee and the Ylissean lord whom took his mother in when she had nowhere to go. As such he is of common blood, unacceptable by most noble standards, but legitimized by his father whom had no other heir. He grew up in a scholarly household, one that both worshiped the light of Naga and championed the pursuit of knowledge. Ydolus was a quick learner, and often spent his time learning in the library of the family estate. Anything he learned, he would try to replicate on his own, hoping to broaden his array of skills. It was when his father discovered Ysolus replicating the military tactics of the ancient wars that Ydolus was selected for Military training. An unfortunate turn of events as there was nobody to take care of his man-eating garden and potentially dangerous constructs. That was a fun letter from father.
• The fast growing boy was a quick riser in the ranks of the Ylissian military academy. He demonstrated impressive aptitude in magic, much to the point that his teachers needed to find new things to teach him while he went off and learned from others. Now all this rapid success didn't mean that Ydolus was a prodigy or even really adept at anything he did. He just learned really quickly. Watching people was enough to understand how it was done, and upon repetition, he could quickly determine the best way to cut corners. That's right, the top student in academia was a cheater. Most successful people tend to be.
• Eventually Ydolus's success and his noble background was enough to earn him a commission as an officer in the Ylissean military. Rank and political weight served him well in his career. He served the Hallidom faithfully, earning power and reputation which could help him pursue his own interests. Still ever a scholar, Ydolus hoped to learn all he could about everything, his mind hungry for more. That sort of mentality made him an excellent man of progress but... well, matters of the heart and mind are fundamentally separate. Now into adulthood, the dance of the noble was something that the young man practiced regularly. The old man found himself socially challenged by the prospect of bringing others into his life. It was one thing to command a soldier but another to speak with others who thought themselves your betters and not speak out against them. Quite often it was Ydolus who knocked a noble off his high horse. A fool is fool after all. While most found it distasteful, there was a certain allure to those who saw the world as it was.
• Ydolus had one person in his life he found to be on the same mental plane as him. She was fiery, wise beyond her years, and the only one that dared to challenge Ydolus in matters of academia, military... and the heart. Every engagement between them was like two children meeting at night unbeknownst to others. It led to further entanglement until eventually the two threw away social inhibitions and wed to the witness of all. That was the height of noble Ydolus's career. He was a man who had it all in his own world, not caring for the petty conflicts of others. That was until conflict of the Fell Dragon. Much was lost in those days, including the anchor that kept Ydolus's life afloat, the only woman he ever loved. Her loss changed him. He became obsessed with battling the Risen forces and destroying the Grimleal. It was the only purpose left to him.
• With the loss of the Exalt, Ylisse was a battleground for fools. Constant bickering between weak nobles grabbing at power. The now old Ydolus found it all so meaningless. The bickering aristocracy wished to fight themselves for fear they would go up against something greater than themselves. All that mattered was to destroy the Grimleal. Yet nobody seemed to understand that... all but one man. The noble who would become the leader of the Knights of Cydonia. A noble spirit, young but clear of thought. He saw the truth of the matter. A proper man to lead the assault against the forces of evil. When nobody stood by him, it was Ydolus who would. He became the proper tactician of the knights, aiming to drive back the evil for himself, and his wife.
