BIO
Josh was born the son of two Ylissian nobles, one who was known for constantly putting himself at risk on the front lines in defense of Ylisse. His father, Derek, was his hero, who he idolized and adored throughout his childhood for his reputation, and his prowess in battle, to which he exuded in every battle he was able to join. Of course, while being educated and taught in order to take the head of his families affairs as his mother wished, Josh never seemed to have any sort of interest in those affairs. Instead, he was enamored in following in the footsteps of his father, wanting to wield a blade and go out to fight the "bad guys" that came to Ylisse, and become a big hero like his father. When he wasn't being educated, or being forced into meetings and boring traditions, Josh would steal away to train under a kind swordsman by the name of Bram, who gladly took him in as an apprentice in secret without telling anyone. Josh heavily enjoyed his time spent training, every single day, in the art of combat, and it served as a joyful distraction from the lifestyle that he disliked.
As time went on, Josh became less interested in noble matters, instead harboring dreams of becoming an Adventurer, going out into the world, fighting dangerous people and creatures, and helping people. Of course, due to his love for his father, he didn't leave to pursue his dreams as he would have liked to, instead he stayed and continued to learn to do a job that he felt wasn't right for him, but yet it seemed to be destiny for him. He couldn't do a thing about it, after all. As the years went on, Josh had begun to become a formidable warrior, with incredible strength and a natural gift for the blade. The apple obviously had not fallen far from the family tree. His yearning to go out and be an Adventurer remained, but he was unable to for obvious reasons.
Things would change, of course. When Josh was 15, a battle would take place with his father on the front lines, and for the first time, his mother had come out to support her husband, who had begun to age, and would need all the help he could get. Whether out of nobility politics or pure malice though, one of their own allies, a Ylissian, would slay them both from behind in a backstab, and blame it on the opposition. Whether it was the Risen, outlaws, bandits or a warring settlement though, the details were never that clear. Regardless, Josh was horrifically devastated at the loss of his family, and suffered serious mental scarring and trauma as a result. He grew cold and quiet, and incredibly mistrusting of others. Meanwhile, he had been taken in by a nobleman in the Ylissian fold, an older gentleman who saw nothing but fame and profit for himself in the teenager. The gentleman himself never treated Josh that well, and often hired patsies and servants to do the work to continue his "education", unlike his own father and mother who had taken the time to do so themselves out of love for their son and a want to see him succeed. In secret, Josh would continue his training under Bram, until Bram's untimely passing when Josh was 17. Bram had passed having taught Josh just about everything he knew over the years, and Josh wept for him as he would a member of his own family, with Bram being the closest thing to a friend or a father figure that he had after losing his own father.
Josh would continue to train on his own in secret, growing stronger with each passing day. That desire to leave this life and pursue a life of adventure, and actually contributing to the world and to people in need, grow stronger, his fire burned more passionately each passing day. But he felt like he owed it to the memory of his parents to take his place as a nobleman... As a leader, an example, an asset to Ylisse. He detested the man who once claimed he "owned" him during a drunken fit, and once dreamed of stabbing his blade through the "Gentleman's" chest, if he wouldn't have been hanged and looked down upon by the Gods for it. One day, with Josh at the age of 18 though, the gentleman decided it was time to make good on his plan to why he had adopted young Josh to begin with. He had decided to arrange a marriage for Josh, and receive a heavy sum of money, as well as favor, from the more wealthy powerful noble family. Josh was beyond angry, and this turn of events was the final straw, seeing it as this so called nobleman selling him off like a slave. The straw on the camel's back had been broken. Josh would take what provisions he would carry as well as his blade. The final thing he took was his father's armor, painted in the colors of his family crest, before he snuck out one night.
Josh would go on to become an accomplished adventurer. For years, people wondered who this young man, well built and with the dashing good looks of a noble, but the battle prowess and mastery with a blade could possibly be, constantly going around the world, exploring dangerous dungeons and caves, helping people in need, singlehandedly taking on scores of bandits and theives in their own territory for nothing but the good of those that they had wronged. He lived on loot and rewards for his troubles, improving his own skill in battle through experience. He traveled alone for years, at least, for a time.
When Josh was 21, and an experienced adventurer, he would come across bandits having ambushed and waylaid a woman by the name of Eris, who had been taken by surprise and was unable to defend herself, despite her likely capability of doing so. As his instincts and code of honor demanded, Josh would strike the bandits down, saving the woman before any serious harm could be done. Afterwords, the two would begin traveling together, and Eris became quite the help on his adventures. She had also given him an egg which she had been nursing as thanks for helping her, which would in turn hatch into a young wyvern. Dark blue, with tints of red along the outlines of the wings, Josh would name the wyvern "John" and take care of him on their travels as if he were his own child.
At some point, after helping a member of the "Knights Of Cydonia" in combat, the two would be given offers to join up. Seeing an opportunity to help the people of Ylisse like he had wished, Josh dutifully accepted.
OTHER
While affectionate to his master, John can be very dangerous to others if you find a way to irritate him. Treat him honorably and be given honor, but be the opposite and you'll be minus a few fingers. Of course, he is also incredibly protective of Josh, as is the other way around. The wyvern, in his currently very young un-rideable state, is incredibly curious and may sniff anything he can to get the scent and will remember it forever.
