#petunia crimes
Thalia hadn't expected to run into another wild pegasus today. Not only were they a rarity in these parts, but her aura had always been like a pegasi repellent. The first she had ran across earlier had been caught by surprise when Thalia flew out of the forest on Canuto where she met it in mid-air. The pegasus had become paralyzed by fear and became unable to fly, crashing in the forest. Thalia descended to help, but any compassion for the winged beast evaporated when the wild pegasus stared at her with a look that told her it would rather die than breathe the same air as her.
She had always known her terrible rapport with pegasi but having only worked with Canuto over the years, Thalia had momentarily forgotten the extent of her unpopularity. She wasn't about to get hung up about it, but it had considerably dampened her mood the entire morning.
it was a lesson relearned, so by the time she had seen another pegasus, flying in the sky just like the one from earlier, she kept her distance and followed from behind. She was supposed to be rushing to a village up north, but the peculiarity of wild pegasi outside of Talys crossed her mind. Had a smuggler accidentally let loose a bunch of them?
Thalia's eyes widened. She was used to the wind muffling her ears while she flew hundreds of feet up in the air. She could distinguish perfectly well the sound of wings - many other pairs of wings - flapping in the sky.
"How in the..."
Out from the clouds were several other pegasi pooling in the path the pegasus Thalia was following. She counted at least ten of them, ten wild pegasi who appeared out of nowhere, heading to a direction as if they were being called.
Being called...was that it? Was someone trying to lure all the pegasi to them? Thalia tightened her reins and commanded Canuto to circle around them and fly ahead. She had never heard of a pegasus-caller outside of fiction but it wasn't impossible. It could be a whistle, could be magic, or heck, a giant catnip. Thalia wouldn't mind feeding the pegasi to a dragon but unfortunately, they were more useful as living, working mounts than carcasses for sacrifice. If someone were trying to hog them, then it was worth investigating.
The flock of pegasi were descending before Thalia could locate where they might be heading to. She frowned when they didn't seem to be heading to the forest or the lake. Instead, they appeared to be heading for the hills.
What would pegasi want from hills? Their natural habitat was in the mountains. Surely they hadn't confused the two. All Thalia could do was follow from behind until she could see with her eyes the cause behind the unnatural behavior.
