@legacy / @toto #let's get down to business It wasn't the crack of the dawn until another hour but the encampment was already in a flurry of activity. The veteran soldier had gotten used to the unfair irregularity of her sleeping schedule. Already past the last twenty of her age, she found less need for sleep anyway, but that didn't mean she had more time to kill while the rest of the youngsters snoozed away.
Ordering people wasn't something she was fond of doing, especially when they were kids half her age. They weren't completely of age, yet here they were, signed up for the campaign that could spell their deaths. It wouldn't be the first young blood Thalia had seen. Friend or foe, she'd seen them be spilled.
But if she could help it, she would not let it happen. Fortune was on her side for she was not responsible for letting two youngsters to their deaths today. The mission today was a harmless errand.
"We have supplies waiting to be picked up in a town," she said to the two knights before her. Their alert expressions gleamed against the fire of her torch.
"It contains a stock of our weapons, so you two would be traveling on a carthorse. ETA is two days. The supplies aren't worth the effort but we need weapons and we can't be picky."
Thalia handed the female knight the map.
"Your own supplies have already been prepared inside. I trust you two are prepared to set off immediately." Thalia paused and smiled softly. "But there's no reason to rush. This isn't a top priority. If there are other things you two need to take care of, there's time. I apologize for passing this work to you two. I have been alerted of another matter today. We can convene tomorrow, perhaps? My business today won't take long." coded by electric of gangnam style

Tabitha D'Lisse
Seventeen | Taguel
Two halves do not make a whole
What possessed these people? To wake up before the first golden ray could grace the earth was nothing short of madness. Yet, these “Knights of Cydonia” were not only awake, but we’re busying themselves with all sorts of tasks and filling the crisp morning air with all sorts of noise. Having been the only child to the most doting parents that one could imagine, Tabitha was used to being gently coerced from slumber by the inviting scent of breakfast. Waking up to THIS was nothing short of a nightmare. Perhaps the rumours were true, and these people were just a collection of idiots. Hoping to catch another hour – or two, preferably three – of sleep, the former exile tried to bury her head into a pillow. When this failed, the girl tried to recall how she ended up in this dreadful situation. Her mind refused to do as it was told; it was far too early in the day to think. However, even without a clear recollection of the past, one thing was certain: signing up wasn’t part of her plan. While the order definitely seemed more interesting than spending another day at court – as listening to her cousins gossip about the most mundane things was tantamount to brain death – she gave them no serious thought. That being said, she made a realization that made her mumble an optimistic thought. “Maybe this won’t be so bad.” A small smile actually began to form on her expression, but it was quickly stifled when a stranger poked their head though the tent flaps. The messenger casually ignored the glare of hatred that they received and simply informed the girl that she had been summoned. “Then again…” Despite her misgivings, Tabi wasn’t one to give up quite so easily and she eventually made her way to where she was supposed to be. To her surprise, there was already somebody else there and he looked to be about her age. The boy seemed like a peasant who may have received a few blows to the head in the past, but he seemed friendly enough and at this moment, that was far more important than his pedigree. She approached him with a mind to pass the time until Thalia, whoever that was, appeared. “He-” Her cheerful greeting turned into an intelligible yelp as a woman approached them from a blind spot. The poor girl clutched her chest, wondering how a woman with a torch could have snuck up on her, forgetting the fact that she was in a daze – not anymore. Now, she was wide awake and struggling to catch her breath. With her mind jolted into action, the pieces quickly fit together and by the time she received the map, the half-heard words had formed into a coherent thought. Introductions would have to wait a bit longer, it seemed, as her impatience was quickly revealed. The girl raised her hand, but spoke without waiting for her gesture to be acknowledged. “If this is so simple, why don’t we just head off now? No need to waste time.” Confidence bolstered by the apparently easy mission, the girl could only think of one thing: adventure.

For the past five minutes, Toto stood in the middle of the busy camp, looking unsure of his own presence there. A few familiar knights had approached him wondering of the same thing. Toto, who would be rising before the sun to run errands, was not often seen being idle at a time like this. He gave them a sheepish smile and passed the same message that he received while he had been hanging laundry on the clothes line. "Lady Thalia called for a job." What kind of job, he didn't know but the name was enough to make him anxious. He had heard of the veteran Pegasus Knight before. She was a former lieutenant in the military. What could an experienced combatant like her want with Toto? He came at this spot empty-handed, waiting. Perhaps he should rush to his tent and retrieve his axe. He might end up forgetting to take it later. Toto became embroiled in his own thoughts but he caught the presence of an approaching person from the shadow that appeared on the ground. When Toto turned to look, there was a dark-haired girl around his age who appeared startled as Lady Thalia arrived with a torch in hand. Toto hesitantly looked away from the girl to listen to Lady Thalia's instruction. Did the girl want something from Toto? "Oh, I see," he thought, glancing at the girl beside him. "I'm supposed to work with her. She's a knight just like me." This was the first time Toto had seen another knight his age. It was strange. His image of a knight was someone old, wise, and firm. The girl looked like an ordinary girl, maybe even a noble. "You shouldn't worry about us, Lady Thalia. I'm used to running long journeys. We'll be fine," said Toto. "I have my clothes and a first-aid kit packed up for emergency situations like this! We can go immediately once we got them, right?" he looked at the girl expectantly. @legacy / @toto #let's get down to business The earnestness (or impatience in young Tabitha's case) was music to Thalia's ears. It reminded her of her early days as a knight, filled with rose-showered beginnings and high expectations from the pedestal. Her naivete was short-lived, crushed into tiny pieces by the every bit of flesh she skewered with her spear and tainted by the rotting corpses she could smell herself reeking with. It was inevitable, but it didn't mean that the time was now. Maybe these children would be better prepared than her.
"Very well. It would be improper of me to coddle you. As knights, you should be able to do something as simple as traveling and reading the map. I'll leave you two to handle your work then."
With a firm, courteous nod to the two of them, Thalia turned and left, the sound of her spear lightly jiggling beside her. coded by electric of gangnam style
