BIO
• The story of Ophelia of Plegia is a tale of a life built upon broken bones and a rise from squalor to fame. When you look at the valorous and virtuous Captain of The Plegian Guard, you'd see an inspiring figure who strikes a heroic continence. But if you look back at her history, you can see the humble beginnings. The daughter of a farmer, Ophelia was happy to help her father around the family farm right up until the day that the harvest failed and her parents went into debt. Eventually the farm had to be sold and the young girl now a teenager would end up running away from home. After doing so, she began to run with a rough crowd that would eventually turn to banditry.
• As a brigand who's faith in the world was dead, Ophelia learned how to swing a sword from one of the older men. Though not some kind of professional swordswoman, she had a natural sort of talent for the blade and although a real swordsman could handily defeat her, Ophelia could strike terror into others still. And eventually this came to the notice an army captain by the name of Gerald. Captain Gerald led a small unit to capture the bandits that were causing trouble in the area and succeeded quite handily. When he confronted the brigands he asked them a simple question. "Do you want to live or die?" And then he gave them a choice. They could either be executed for their crimes or join the army. And Ophelia was among the bandits that chose to live and fight another day.
• The upstart Ophelia was hardly the shining example of a soldier in the beginning, but the Captain was even more stubborn than the bandit group. He trained them day and night in discipline and also instilled in them a sense of right and wrong that they had lacked before. Eventually this began to have a profound effect on the young Ophelia and for the first time since that cold winter when her father's farm had failed she cried out of all of her sorrow and rage. Reborn under the Captain's tutelage, Ophelia became the sort of soldier that is often hailed for bravery in the face of danger and an understanding of what it meant to serve your country. Eventually this attitude led her to promotions and being sent out on missions to aid citizens by her commanding officer. One particular mission led to yet another change in her life. On this mission she rescued a carriage waylaid by monstrous Risen. The passengers turned out to be the children of Lord Maxwell, the patriarch of House Entiva. A generous man, he offered a great reward to Ophelia, but she turned it down. Liking the cut of her jib, he chose instead to grant her an honor. Ophelia was knighted by Lord Maxwell and a new chapter of her life began to open up.
• As an official Knight of Plegia, Ophelia began to try and better herself once more. During this period of her life she reunited with her parents and helped them to start a proper living once more, buying her father a whole new farm with her pay that she'd saved up over the years. Using an additional stipend granted by her knighthood, Ophelia also paid for farmhands to aid him and left the rest as an investment to her father. With this bit of personal business done Ophelia set out to prove to herself how much good she could now do. Launching a personal crusade of sorts, the young Knight set out to annihilate what was left of the Risen in Plegia, driving them down to an all time low while also slowly rehabilitating many bandits like the old Captain had done for her. She got them to turn their lives around and move on to become productive citizens or join the army much like herself. Eventually the combination of both destroying the Risen and redeeming brigands got her the attention of the current King of Plegia. After being called before the court he announced that her new station would be within the Royal Guard. Infact, she would become the new Captain after the old retired. And within a couple of years this indeed became the case.
• The death of the King was sudden and also came with the death of the old Captain of The Guard. Each position moved into a new line of succession. And out came King Sin of Plegia and Captain Ophelia of The Plegian Guard. Like many, she truly did admire the new King and his attitude of putting the people and Plegia first before the concerns of petty nobles had endeared the young King to her. It was this period in which she chose to truly devote herself to the protection of the Royal Family. However... there was no fortune to be found in the reign of this King. He had set off on a trip and Ophelia was in charge of arranging his guard detail. A contingent of 30 well trained men were dispatched with the King, more than enough to fend off any bandits or a skirmishing party from dissident lords or Grimleal. Or so Ophelia had figured. Though the details of the battle still remain locked in obscurity, a surprise attack was initiated upon the King and ultimately the assassination proved successful. Mystery abound at how it had succeeded and many theories began to crop up of traitors within the Royal Guard. And so the investigation began for Ophelia and a trusted cadre of her men.
• The time of ascension for the next ruler came and went in quick measures. Ascher was the next in line and was quickly deposed by his younger sister Maeve after the findings of Ophelia's investigation were revealed. Along with the "five second king", a number of staff, guards, and other individuals were outed for their affiliations and ultimately either imprisoned or executed by order of the new Queen. And while Ophelia figures that she got most of the spies, she has her ear close to the ground and eyes on the lookout for more potential spies. This has created something of a paranoid streak in her and the Captain of The Guard is loathe to fail in protecting another member of the Royal Family. She has recently restructured the Royal Guards and keeps especially close eyes on them.
OTHER
-To this day, Ophelia is still bothered by Sin's death and her failure in keeping him safe. She is also bothered by Ascher's exile and has a nagging urge that she missed something crucial in her investigation. As of the current time however, she has not figured out what.
-Ophelia greatly cares for the Royal Family and their safety. She's particularly worried of Maeve due to how the other advisers tend to treat her as a puppet. This does not sit well with Ophelia.
-Personal Motto: "I will act as the shield of Plegia's people."
-Emblem: Golden Lion
-Favorite Food: Pork pie.
