BIO
• Leopold is the youngest of many sons, born into a poor family that tried to cultivate the land despite the harsh terrain of Regna Ferox. While they were very happy and loving folk, it was hard to stretch a coin far enough to feed so many mouths, especially growing boys. To ease the financial burden, several of Leopold's brothers were sent off into apprenticeships or military positions. But he was always a bit frail--not sickly, but scrawny--and so, instead, from a very young age, he entered the clergy and began to study the teachings of Naga.
• While decidedly devout and devoted to his teachings and practices, Leopold's laziness, inattentiveness, and flights of fancy often frustrated the more senior priests at his abbey. For that reason, he was often given extra unrewarding chores. It was in this manner, however, that he did develop a love and talent for cooking and baking. He was on kitchen duty more often than any of the other acolytes.
• The art wasn't practiced by all of the priests of his abbey, but Leopold was ecstatic to find, while still little more than a child, that he had skill with a staff. Because of their seclusion and passiveness, it was rare for anyone at the abbey to be injured, and so he never got many chances to practice. But older staff users still taught him everything that they could.
• Perhaps as any young man his age might, as he grew into teenagerdom, Leopold began to yearn for the world outside of the abbey in which he was raised. He began to take small trips here and there, usually just visiting various members of his family, observing them in their trades and such. But even that wasn't quite enough for him. Every time he returned home, it was with a heaviness hanging over him.
• When he caught wind of a certain group passing nearby in Regna Ferox--a group devoted to helping better the world rout out corruption, and all of that--he saw it as an opportunity. Braving the bitter cold and wilds, Leopold said a final prayer at his abbey and snuck away in the night. He considered it a true blessing that he was able to meet up with the Knights of Cydonia at all, and an even greater one that they would take him into his ranks. Who knows what would have happened if he had been forced to brave the wilds alone?
OTHER
Despite his parentage, Leopold hates the cold. Being able to travel from Regna Ferox to a place with a warmer climate may or may not have been a large reason for his wanderlust. Even though he's left the abbey, Leopold still takes his religion seriously and practices his teachings in his daily life.
