BIO
The third of four children born to the Plegian royal family, Beatrice was perhaps the most affected by the privileges associated with a regal upbringing. On the one hand, Beatrice has always been something of a model child. More than pressure or expectations, she enjoyed being a princess and all of the lessons and responsibilities that came with it. Perhaps it was because she wasn't being groomed to inherit the throne, and there was thusly far less stress on her than on her older siblings. But when it came to things like etiquette, literature, music, and all of the other pursuits reserved for the refined, Beatrice was more than attentive. She was enthusiastic, and consistently performed at a level her parents and tutors would at least consider adequate.
At the same time, she was a very demanding and obstinate child. Perhaps not the best traits for a princess-to-be, Beatrice nevertheless found herself getting her way more often than not. Her parents' leniency was perhaps influenced by her success in her studies; but whatever the reason, when it comes down to it, Beatrice was rather spoiled. The King and Queen's greatest submission to her willful ways came at a very young age, when she repeatedly insisted (or demanded, rather) that she be given a young wyvern to raise for her own. It took quite a bit of wearing down, but eventually, when she was about eight years old, she was paired with her dear, precious gentleman, Arnold. Perhaps the least ladylike of all of her noble pursuits, she began training in both flight and axe combat as soon as she and her wyvern were both old enough.
Despite the grief she's occasionally caused them, Beatrice has always placed family (wyvern family included) above all else; even if it's not entirely mutual, she feels a very close familial and convivial tie with all those closely tied to the Plegian royal family, including its guards and retainers. With every loss of family, Beatrice was absolutely devastated. When her father was killed, she spent days holed up in her bedroom, refusing to speak with anyone or even eat, going so far as to neglect poor Arnold. It was more than the loss of her father. It was the first time she'd really lost anything at all, or that she wasn't able to get what she really wanted--that is, her father back in her life.
Just when she thought that the worst of her grief was past her, a different kind of tragedy struck. Her beloved brother, accused of fraternization with the Grimleal cult, had the throne usurped from him and was cast out of their home. Suddenly, Beatrice was forced to think about her place in the world. She had faith in her sister, Maeve, and believed in the necessity of the decisions she'd made. But her heart still mourned her broken family. Even if the Grimleal were no allies of Beatrice, she loved her brother. She came to value Inessa and Maeve that much more, but still dreams of the day when the four of them can live together happily once more.
OTHER
Even without the same pressure from her parents that she experienced as a child, Beatrice has been studying and training with more fervor lately. She knows little of the world and has the naivety of someone that's led a sheltered life. But as she sees it, the sooner she can help Maeve's people and help to quell the fiery state of the different nations, the sooner her family can be as close to whole as possible.
