BIO
• Layle was originally born to a father who was never around, a Rosannean that his mother never remembered. His mother, also never around, was a drunkard, and as such, it was often his elder brother Vaigali who raised the boy, carrying him around and providing him with the care their mother choose not to give.
• When the boy was seven, his mother never came home one day. Layle had no idea what to do, or at least, he wouldn't have if he wasn't still protected by Vaigali. His older brother took him and fed him and clothed him, and for him, that was enough. He never noticed the way that the elder would wince sometimes when he would crawl into bed with his brother. That was only something that came with hindsight.
• Layle never knew about the things that his brother got up to. None of the violence, none of the theft, none of the illegal deeds - none of it. He was encouraged to be a hero, a merchant... anything that he wanted to be. Vaigali was supportive, and no matter how many times he would leave, he always came back, giving Layle a ruffle to his hair and a chuckled "Bet you thought I wasn't coming back, huh?" His brother never broke that promise. Never.
• And then he did. Vaigali was taken away in the middle of the market by the royal guard, and even though he promised a fifteen year old Layle that he would come home... the younger was left to stare at the road for days on end, his heart slowly leaving him as he realized that it was all a lie. And when someone finally came... it wasn't Vaigali. Instead, it was a man who gruffly took the boy in, enlisting him in the military and teaching him how to use a lance.
• The year he spent in Valm's military was more than he could bear. He stayed so that he could be sure he knew enough about the lance, earned enough money to buy a trip to the other continent... and then he made his way to Chon'sin and then to Ferox. From there, the snow-covered land created wonder in him, and the proud fighters a sense of dignity and honor that he found himself striving towards in a way that he hadn't during his days in the military.
• Since then, Layle has found his home with the Western Khan, secretly in awe of the champion there and doing his very best to earn some money so that he can find a nice quiet home to hang up his lance and be done with the killing business. He hated dirtying his hands, and he hated his brother for leaving him. And all he could think of, on those cold lonely nights, was that all he ever wanted... was to not be left alone...
OTHER
Layle has a bit of an aptitude with taming animals. Soft-spoken, he often is found around in the stables, quieting horses or pegasi, or sometimes even handling griffons or wyverns. His home also is often crowded with dogs and cats, the result of strays that he had taken in who continue to come around and provide him with company.
Layle's horse is a gelding by the name of Cid. Even-tempered, Cid is a bit more of an elegant horse than a destrier, and with his black mane and tail and gorgeous chestnut coat, it's rather obvious that he's well taken care of by Layle. His pegasus, a strapping stallion by the name of Jehgran, is a bit fierce, willing to go to any lengths to protect Layle. Perhaps funnily enough, his wyvern is a nesting female by the name of Fiona, and when she's not out hunting, she's usually curled up around him sleeping.
