BIO
- Scorpius was born in Plegia to a particularly dedicated father and a mother who was often listless. The first born of two, he was the more responsible, and as a matter of fact, it was not uncommon for him to trail after his father, eager to follow in his path of righteousness, his father a priest who was studying magic in the hopes of one day becoming a sage to aid his fellow Grimleal.
- At the age of six, Scorpius' life changed forever. He met a beautiful girl who was his new neighbor, a child that was a year younger than him and managed to stir his protective instincts. The two were rarely apart from each other, often found playing in the fields together and always turning back towards their siblings.
- When Scorpius was eight, he came home from playing with his friend to find his father packing up. Their mother had left, he told the child, picked up, taken his sister, and walked out the door. They couldn't afford to stay, so the pair would have to begin traveling, paid to spread the message of Grima among the people. The boy didn't want to, but he agreed, figuring that if he behaved, he would get to visit often.
- When he was eleven, Scorpius returned to his hometown to find his friend in distress. Her father had died, and she wanted revenge. Counselling her to wait, Scorpius' own father took her in, and the young boy grew closer still, the pair becoming extremely reliant upon each other. It was an uncommon sight to find him without her head resting against his shoulder or her hand in his own.
- Maybe that was why, four years later when bandits invaded the town, Scorpius didn't hesitate to try to flee with his beloved, obeying his father's orders to leave him to protect the town. The town was burned to the ground... and Scorpius first learned of tragedy.
- Feeling guilty, his friend agonized over the death. She mourned the man who had become her father... and in a year's time, Scorpius awoke to an empty bed and a note saying that she would take matters into her own hands for revenge. Scorpius, heart in his throat, ran to try to find her... but it was too late. By the time he managed to locate her, bandits surrounded them.
- The fight was brutal, harsh... but it was as Scorpius turned, having defeated the last one, that his world shattered. His friend stood there, her lifeblood bleeding out, and it was obvious she was beyond help. Bringing her to the healers would only prolong her suffering... and in that moment, a frightened fifteen year old had to make a choice. He had to kiss the girl he had only recently admitted to himself that he loved... while he slipped a dagger into her chest.
- The act shattered him. Scorpius was cast adrift, turning to dark magic and spiraling down further and further in waves of self-pity and anger. He blamed himself for the death of his lover, and he was seventeen when he tried to take the bandits out. They left their mark on him after torturing him for two days, abandoning him in the desert to die.
- But he did not die. A year later, he slaughtered them all, and from there he has wandered about the continent, searching for the sibling to his former beloved, hoping against hope that, once there, he would find a reason to continue breathing... or stop breathing at all.
OTHER
Scorpius is near-sighted, hence why he wears glasses in most scenarios. It is only when he is concerned about fighting or particularly that he will consider removing his glasses.
The scar around his neck, a jagged "Beloved", is something that occasionally bleeds, which is part of why he wraps it in bandages. In truth, he reopens the wounds himself occasionally in the belief that he must never forget the sin of killing his beloved.
He also smokes, a habit he picked up after he became a dark mage and in the self-destructive spiral following the death of his beloved.
Unlike his father, a priest of the Grimleal, he has no affiliation with religion. Publicly, he says that he would rather not trust his faith to a group that would murder its own king, but in private, he actually feels that he cannot believe in a god that would take away his beloved.
