BIO
Nimue was born the youngest of two siblings, and almost from the day she was born, her elder brother was her protector. It wasn't an uncommon sight for her to be trailing after him, her fingers clutching at his sleeve or the back of his shirt, or to be dangling from one of his arms as he walked around the house. She didn't see the stress in her mother's face then, the way that her mother and her brother would look at each other over her head. It didn't occur to her that it would be a problem that she didn't have a father. Why should it? Her mother was there, and her big brother, so why should it seem like something was missing from her life?
She was six when her brother first began to leave for weeks at a time. She would bawl, at first, missing her brother, but then she slowly began to notice that her mother seemed upset and distant. Finally she asked what was the matter, and she learned that her brother had become a sellsword to try to make ends meet, putting himself at risk in a way that her father had years ago only to perish at the hands of a group of bandits. Although heartbroken, Nimue vowed then never to take up arms against someone unless she had no choice, not wanting to see her mother cry again.
When she was eight, she first obtained Artemis when her brother was home for a while. This was the first time that she was around a wyvern, and she quickly took the hatchling on, raising him before letting him go. Of course, he still visited, so that was why, when she was ten, her brother told her that he had gotten a job across the sea, in Ylisse, and he would be going away for a while. The wyvern would be there to protect his precious baby sister and keep her from getting lonely, so it wouldn't be a bad thing to leave for a while, right?
But her brother never came back. And with Rosanne growing restless, the only thing that she could think to do was to violate the oath she'd made. She began to learn how to use an axe, wanting to be able to protect her mother from the brigands who would threaten them when Artemis wasn't around to frighten them off. She would get her family back together, she knew she would.
Instead, when she was sixteen, her house burned down with her mother inside while she was out in town fetching supplies. She flew into such a rage, but there was nothing she could do about the brigands. They were many, and even with Artemis, she was only two. She swallowed her anger and hurt, her grief and sorrow, in order to board a ship to Ylisse to try to find her brother. Since then, she and Artemis have been wandering the continent, following the crumbs of knowledge of her brother, but she has not found him. But she will. She'll get stronger and then the three of them will make the people who murdered her mother and burned her home pay. That's an oath that she intends to keep.
OTHER
Nimue's older brother was actually killed two weeks of arriving in Ylisse during a raid on the caravan of merchants that he had been hired to protect. She isn't aware of that, however, and continues to search for a man that she believes to still be alive and well.
Nimue first obtained her wyvern, Artemis, from her elder brother, who brought him in as a hatchling. She took care of him until he was old enough to fend for himself, but he often returned from the wild to visit her. When she confessed a wish to find her brother, who had left Rosanne a long time ago, Artemis followed her and it was only upon her insistence that he came down onto the ship while attempting to cross the sea despite his fatigue. He usually scares away most sources of trouble or conflict since the girl is a bit of a pushover and won't fight back unless she's reached her limit, the young woman disliking violence.
